A Hole Lot Of Trouble

Two days, that's all it's been, and she is ready to hit the hills. James, Meowth, and Jessie rented out an apartment for a three month lease. They had to pinch pennies but James was more than stubborn about it.

Lying awake at four thirty in the morning, Jessie stared at her boyfriend, memorizing his calm features. Gently, she traces a finger across his bottom lip, then places a kiss to them. She feels James flinch before kissing her back. When he pulls away, he smiles warmly at her. "Hi hon, why are you awake?" He asks with a hint of worry laced in his sleep slurred voice.

With a shrug of her shoulders, Jessie smiles at his half conscious state. "I just can't sleep baby, you've kept me in bed since we got here, I'm restless."
With a thoughtful look on his face, James nods. "Would you like to take a ride in the air balloon tomorrow? I can take you to a waterfall I saw yesterday, I think you'd like it."

"As long as you let me use my crutches so I'm not being carried everywhere. I want to be exhausted by the time we get back." His eyes go wide and chuckles bubble from his chest, light and free. This surprises Jessie causing her to blush and stare at him. "W-what's so funny?" She questions completely confused.

James simply holds up his hands in surrender and to cover his mouth, trying to conceal his laughter. "Nothing hon, I just honestly never thought I'd hear you say that." "It's that funny?" She questions, feigning frustration. With a shit eating grin that all guys seem to have, he nods at her.

She scoffs with a smile on her face. "Thanks, I love you too." "I love you, my dear." He says before pulling her close. The gentle motion surprises her at first, but she knows that's just James. Snuggling into him she sighs. "I still can't sleep." She says, and this only makes him laugh again.

"Hold on a second." He says with an amused and living voice as he gets out of bed. He walks to the bathroom, Jessie watching his every move, curious as to what he's doing. When he appears again, he's holding a small orange bottle. "Take one of these, love. They're melatonin, to help you sleep."

With a nod, Jessie takes two pills from the bottle. Chewing them up, she lays down next to James who just got back into the bed. James pulls her close again, still being mindful of her leg. "Hey Jess, while we're awake I'd like to ask you something." She nods with a curious look. "Can I sign your cast tomorrow?"

Surprised, the red head only giggles bubbly. "Yes baby, you can sign my cast tomorrow, even Meowth if he wants to." Her giggles calm and it gets quiet in the bedroom. It stays quiet for about five minute, the only sound being the steady breathing of both rocket members. Later, James lightly ceresses Jessie's cheek with his thumb, when he realizes her eyes are fluttering. "Getting sleepy Jess?"

She nods before pulling him closer, burying her face in his shoulder, letting sleep take over. He chuckles and snuggles into her, also falling into the world of sleep.

Later

Morning came and went for team rocket as they slept in for at least four hours. It was three in the afternoon before James opened his tired eyes. Jessie followed suit within thirty minutes, finding him gone. Looking around to see if he was near, she found that he wasn't anywhere in sight.

Grabbing her crutches from beside the bed, she gets up and makes her way to the bathroom. "James?" She asks, hoping for a reply. "He went to gets some munchies for yous and me." Meowth says from the living room. His bed was a fluffy shaggy rug that lay just in the center of the room.

"With what money?" She questions curiously. "Jess, doll, do you know what happened to the curious cat?" With an annoyed look, she starts making her way out of the bathroom and into the living room, in front of a very scared Meowth. "I know that satisfaction brought it back, especially if it pounded the hell out of a poor helpless Meowth." The threat was weak, but Meowth wouldn't try calling her bluff.

"Ahahah calm down Jess, just take your meds and then we'll talk." Taking a deep breath to calm her irritation, Jessie walked, using her crutches, over to the bedside table. Pulling out the drawer, she rummages for her pain medication, letting out an "aha" when she sees them. A glass of ice water is already on the table, she assumes James put it out for her. When she picks up the glass, a note is stuck to the bottom of it. After taking the pill with a swig of water, she pulls the note up to her face to read it's contents.

"Hello, love.

If your reading this then your awake. Before I get back home to you, take a warm bath. We will eat together, doesn't cereal sound nice today? Haha we're going to be cereal killers🤣. Don't worry about where I got the money to buy it either, I love you and will see you in maybe five minutes.

The letter alone made her miss him, he's just too cute. As if on cue and as promised, James walks through the front door with a gallon of milk and two bags of cereal in his hands. "Hello, love." He smiles at Jessie, sitting the things on the bedside table next to her. He kisses her forehead and hugs her quickly, "when did you wake up?" He asks her while sitting down.

Jessie shrugs and smiles, a light blush on her cheeks. "Not long. Just long enough to sit up, stretch, and take my meds. He nods thoughtfully, then grabs a bowl from his bag and takes the cereal and milk off the table. Within minutes, James made a bowl for Jessie, Meowth, and himself to eat. 

A few minutes later...

Jessie finishes breakfast with a content sigh and small smile. "I'm going to take a bath." She says to no one in particular, making her way to her dresser on her crutches. She grabs a fresh outfit consisting of a pair of black jeans shorts and a white tank top with a red R on the front of it.

James began packing a basket of the little food he had picked up on his way to the motel. Hearing the sound of water running, he turns to Meowth and smiles. "Okay Meowth, we're not just going on a picnic, but Jessie doesn't know that. I'm actually taking her to a valley that's being used for a firework show this evening. It'll have many stalls with jewelry, food different merchandise, and hats. I want to let her pick out a promise ring."

Meowth smiled thoughtfully, "Will I gets ta be your best man, Jimbo?" This statement produced a scarlet hue across James's cheeks. "Not an engagement ring! A promise ring!" He spluttered in a flustered way and flaild around, amusing the scratch cat Pokemon.

In the background, James could hear the shower shut off in the bathroom, producing a surprised squeak from him. "Keep your mouth shut about the surprise, okay?" He whispers sternly to Meowth. With that he grabs the picnic basket and sits it by the door, before reaching into his pocket for his wallet to check how much money he had left. Forty-five dollars is what he had left. It would only be twenty dollars for two rings including "J+J" on both, allowing for a splurge on snacks and maybe a Roselia plushie.

Tonight was simply for spoiling Jessie, considering her rotten luck she's had these past few days, she deserved special treatment. Within a few minutes, Jessie appears out of the bathroom, fully clothed with her hair down, reaching to right below her booty. James stared in awe at his girlfriend, his flush growing ever so slightly. Noticing this, Jessie smiles and flips her hair sassily, before sitting on a stool to pull it up in it's normal style. "Wait, could you wear it down? It looks beautiful on you."

The question alone surprised her, but the statement afterwards is what made her blush. Smiling bashfully, she let her hair fall free and brushed it out until it was free of tangles. James picks up Jessie's boots to bring them to her. She takes them gratefully and puts them on, not even noticing James still staring at her.

She stands up and motions for her crutches, James hands them to her and they make their way out the door.
