Where am I? Sunlight shines in my eyes and I blink a few times to clear forced sleep out of my head. The last thing I remember is... I don't remember anything. Except my name, Jay Powell. That's it. I don't remember anything else before this moment.
There are about one hundred kids all around me sitting up, blinking and staring confused about where they are or what's going on.
A very young looking girl screams and all eyes turn towards her. She bursts into tears and an older girl next to her tries to comfort her.
I stand up and look around at my surroundings.
"Where are we?" a boy next to me asks. The question not directed at anyone in particular.
"I have no idea." I answer. We seem to be on some kind of beach right now. Behind the beach I see woods on one side and a long meadow on the other and if you really squint your eyes, you see more trees behind the meadow.
"Whats going on?" A male voice asks.
No one knows.
"Everyone stay calm. I know that you are all confused. I am too. But we need to get organized and set up camp for atleast now. Everyone I am Alex. I want to help you. I think for now we should all stay on the beach except for a few of us that should go explore the wooded area and collect some fire wood for tonight and maybe search for some kind of food. Does that sound good? Trust me. I am no leader. I am just a fifteen year old kid. Does Anybody want to volunteer to come with me. I think I will probably take four others with me. Preferably on the older side." Alex says. It sounds like a well rehearsed speech. But it can't be. No one knows were we are, He said it himself.
Willing to help I raise my hand along with a few others. Alex turns and looks at me.
"How about you. Whats your name?" He asks looking at me.
"Jay." I tell him.
"Alright Jay."
I walk over and stand next to him as he searches through the crowd. Then points to a gorgous girl with dark brown hair and exotic blue eyes.
"Whats your name?" He asks her.
She smiles and him. "Ari." The girl declares.
"Okay Ari join us." Alex tells her.
The girl half smiles and walks over and stands on the other side of Alex. He flirtatously smiles at her. She smiles back.
Alex looks back at the crowd of kids staring up at him and chooses a guy with longish black hair.
"The names Oliver." The kid says as he joins Alex, Ari and I at the front of the crowd.
"And I'll choose one more. How about you."
A small dirty blonde hair girl who names herself as Anna joins us.
"Stay calm while we are gone. Older kids watch and take care of younger kids. We will be back soon." Alex says.
"Hopefully." Sarah adds.
That seems to scare several kids because their eyes grow big and they look out at the wooded area.
Alex turns his back and walks towards the forest followed by Ari and then the rest of us.
"Let's try to stick together." I say.
Alex nods at me. "And keep your eyes peeled for things like food and water."
"If we don't find food or water we'll die." Oliver says.
"Yep." Ari agrees.
I look back at the crowd that is still watching us. Some nervously whispering to each other before turning back around and walking with the others into the forest. The trees are dense at first but then they start to become less dense and more space for us to walk.
"There isn't anything in here. We are going to die." Sarah says sounding panicked.
"We have only walked ten feet. Calm down. Didn't you see how big this forest?" Ari replies.
Sarah still looked panicked at the thought of us all dying of thirst and starvation.
Silcence filled us as we walked another fifty feet. Still nothing useful insight.
"We should split up." Ari suggests.
"That sounds dangerous." I say. We should all stick together to make sure that no one gets hurt. And so that no one gets lost. Not to mention that a group is also stronger than individuals. But sadly Alex agrees to Ari's idea.
"Okay."
"So I'll go with Alex this way. Ari said pointing to the right and you three could go to the left." Ari says.
"I'll go by myself." Oliver says.
"Are you sure?" I ask. "That doesn't seem like a good idea.
"I'm sure." Oliver says before turning continuing staight.
Ari strugs her shoulders and her and Alex turn and walks right leaving Sarah and I behind.
"I guess we should go left." Sarah says.
"I guess so." I answer and we turn and walk left through the trees.
