After everyone finished talking, and it was decided that Maggie would go on her horse to get Lori, we all walked out to the truck. Patricia and Otis hugged, and she stepped back and unconsciously wrapped an arm around my shoulders. I hesitated before leaning into her.
After they drove off, we turned and headed back inside. Well, I did. Patricia shook her head and headed around the side of the house. Rick and Hershel went out onto the porch. I stayed in with Carl. I thought of saying something, but I decided not to. I wanted to explore, but I thought that might be rude. I peered out the window. There came Maggie on the horse with Lori in tow. I turned away, and stood in the corner. Lori rushed in to the room, and laid down with Carl. "Baby boy, baby boy, baby boy. It's ok, momma's here, momma's here. You're gonna be ok. You're gonna be ok. We are gonna make you ok." She whispered, and grabbed Rick's hand. I slipped out of the door, feeling like an intruder.
Later on, Patricia unhooked Rick from Carl. I went and sat on the porch. There was so much to think about. The infection, Carl being shot, Sophia gone missing.
Killing my parents and putting down my best friend.
I didn't want to put down my parents and Sage. But I had no choice. I hadn't wanted to, but I hadn't wanted them to turn to walkers. I fingered the knife that had put down my parents, and I touched the gun that had shot the bullet that killed Sage.
After a while, I headed in, and sat on the couch. I could hear Lori snapping at Rick harshly, telling him that he wasn't leaving. I laid my head back and shut my eyes.
