They asked her, "What's the key to saving the world?"

She answered, "You, you are the key. Heal yourself, know yourself, make yourself whole and free. Release all limits and so that your love can flow unconditionally for yourself and the world, this will open the heaven of your heart completely and it will guide you without fail.

Eight years later.,..

"Are you sure it's okay?" Bree asks me for the millionth time. Dio, she won't stop and I'm now starting to regret my offer.

"Yes Bree I'm sure or I would not have suggested it in the first place," my eyes stray from the paperwork in front of me to look at her for just a second.

"It's just that I don't want to cramp up your space you know. You did say you've been living on your own since you were eighteen so I just want to be sure. Plus I just don't want you to get caught in the cross-fire. You how Paul was." She finishes her rant with a mummer.

Bree works at Prestige, a fashion magazine and one of the publication's magazines. We became friends three months after I started working here. She claimed I always looked lonely sitting all by myself in the cafeteria at lunch and because of the manners her mom had instilled in her she couldn't just let me be the sad lonely girl.

Even after being friends for this long we've never been to each other's homes because her boyfriend or rather ex-boyfriend, was an asshole and tried to control every aspect of her life. She assured me it never got physical though and she stayed with him because when they first met he was sweet and kind and all that shit men do to lure you into the trap. But then something happened two nights ago that made her end things with. She won't tell me what.

After finding her in yesterday's clothes I interrogated as to why she had slept here. She tried lying at first but she's always been a shitty liar so called her on it and she told me she didn't feel safe enough to go back to her place and that's when I offered her a room at my place.

"You know, a grateful person would just say thank you Eleanor for giving me a place to stay and then proceed to buy me tons of chocolate just to show how really grateful they are." I drone with a lazy smile on my face.

Color rose up her neck and she gave me a sheepish smile, "You know I'm thankful. But it's just that you've never really invited me to your place before so I always assumed you do not want people there."

Oh..

"Anyway, let me just finish up here so we can go okay. And try not to disturb me, I have this series I want to watch and it starts in about an hour." She gave me a nod and took out her phone  and quietly started playing a game on it.

Half an hour later we were in a cab going home and she was telling me some of the stuff Paul used to do to her.

And here I thought I had major ex-boyfriend drama...

"Where are we going anyway? You never told me where you live" she abruptly changes the subject, "You know I'd never judge you if you live in Queens," she jokingly jabs me with her elbow.

"For someone who doesn't have a place to live you sure have some jokes in you," I smirk.

She folds her arms childishly across her chest and grumbles a low, 'too soon' to which I chuckled and she later joined in.

Three blocks later the taxi stopped in front of my apartment building and I heard her low gasp.

"Girl you live in the Woolworth Tower? How did you even afford it cause I know for sure you don't get paid enough to get a place here. Paul wanted to buy into it this other time but he soon discovered he didn't even have enough for a one bedroom apartment." She rambles as we walk past the concierge to the elevators.

"Well, agradezca a Dios por esto because I don't think you'd want to run into him. And maybe I my sugar daddy bought it for me," I gave a cheeky wink.

"English please. Are there any more where you got him cause I sure would want one?" She replies with a voice filled with awe. I totally understand her, this whole building is beyond beautiful.

I wasn't filthy rich by any means but I had enough to get by. My parents set up trusts for my sister and I and also, they had also taken life insurance policies so when they passed we got just enough money to see us through.

"Oh my God, this place amazing Leany." She insisted on calling me by that horrible nickname even though I'd told her time and again how much I hated it.

It was amazing. I had just moved her after graduation and had started house hunting right away. Claudia, my agent had helped me search for that perfect place and after two months we were nowhere near. I wasn't going to buy something I didn't love because it was to be my permanent home. So one day while on my morning run I decided to take a different route and found my self in front of the neo-gothic building.

I called her up immediately and told her to see if there were any apartments available. She tried talking me out of it since the budget I had given her was way below even a three bedroom one when I actually wanted four. Don't ask me why because I have no answer for it. After confirming that it was almost double I had written a check without a second thought. I knew I'd never find anything half as perfect. She then received a call a few moments later and came back with a giddy grin telling me a couple was selling a four bedroom apartment a few floors up for half it's price and we did jump on it before someone else got to it first and that's exactly what I did.

I gave Bree a tour and showed her what would be her bedroom for as long as she lived here.
