Damien growled, rubbing his tired eyes as he left the school building. He had a long day of learning things he already knew before and dealing with idiots, making the walk to the limo all the more aggravating.

"Hey Damien!" Girls called.

"He's so dreamy! And rich!" Others squealed.

He's used to the attention, but one comment caught his attention.

"I hear he likes Y/n, bummer, but who wouldn't?" Some upperclassman whispered to a girl in her grade, making her pout. Damian tried to brush this comment off, as it was just a rumor, but where did these meat sacks gather this idea? Surely he hasn't talked to her all day, had he?

"Tch." He rolled his eyes, fighting the urge to punch the locker beside him. Of course, this morning in history he had defended her. I guess being a decent person makes you a love sick puppy. Damian cringed at the thought of him being in love, it didn't suit the miniature assassin. He just had to open his mouth didn't he.

"Y/n!!" Cat, another girl in Damian's grade squealed from behind him, "Are you headed home?"

'This is wrong..' Damian thought as he stopped to fumble the lock on some random locker, pretending to be too busy to notice the pair approaching him. The girl's failed to notice him, and the fact that he couldn't open the locker....

and the fact that it didn't even belong to him.

"Um, not quite...I was going to go for a walk to admire nature. You could join, if you'd like?" Y/n offered, a bright smile tugging at her lips.

"So you're telling me that not only are you insanely pretty..but you also care about the planet? What are you a goddess?" Cat joked, playfully nudging Y/n with her shoulder as they walked. Y/n laughed as well, shaking her head.

In a way, she was like a goddess, straight from the tales, Persephone, goddess of spring. She brought light with her wherever she went, birds were chirping, the sun was shining. Damien was like the Hades to her Persephone, constantly surrounded by darkness and corruption, that is until he meets her.

"We wouldn't be here without it, I think everyone should show love to the planet, even if it's once in a while." Y/n spoke, gesturing to the plant life just outside the many windows. Cat tilted her head, amazed, and quite honestly confused, this girl is perfect in every way, how is she real?

"You do have a point there, alright count me in!" If there was one thing Cat was sure of, real or not Y/n is a good person, no one can doubt that. Therefore going on a walk with someone you'd just met is perfectly fine, as long as they're (your height) with s/c skin and e/c eyes, oh and you can't forget the h/l h/c hair! Also her name must start with Y/n and end with L/n.

Damian ceased to play with the lock as their voices dulled, turning to watch them disappear through the big metal doors. He felt himself release a breath he didn't even know he held. It never mattered to him if any girl had transferred here, I mean, what made her so different? Though, that's what it was, really, she was different from the other girls he has unfortunately met. Damian shook these thoughts from his mind and quickly made his way out of the building, not wanting to keep Alfred waiting any longer. Upon arriving to the car, Damian shoved his hands in his pocket, glaring at the girls who whispered and pointed at him. This Y/n girl was proving to be a real pain in the-

"Master Damian, your father wishes to see you immediately, he says it's urgent." Alfred spoke up, smiling at the young boy who just looked unamused.

"Very well then." Damian replied, opening the car door and disappearing behind the blackout windows. The girls squealed, running off to catch their busses presumably. Whatever father had to say better be good, because Damian's day sure wasn't.

Meanwhile, about two blocks away, both girls Y/n and Cat were approaching what appeared to be an abandoned park. Overgrown with vines and other sorts of wild life. Cat gazed at her surroundings, amazed that she never knew of this place until now. It was quite beautiful! You know, for Gotham that is. Each tree was infested with beautiful birds, singing a hello to the two as they fixed their nests and fed their babies. Cat smiled at the sight, but was a bit grossed out when the baby bird stuck its head out. Jeez, for such colorful birds their babies sure are ugly.

"My mother showed me this place some time ago, she talked about how her and my father would spend hours just watching the animals and taking care of the plant life. After my father died however, and once my mother turn-" Y/n paused, clearing her throat, "uh, once she stopped coming here, the life diminished, and Gotham was left with no choice but to shut it down." Y/n turned, smiling while releasing a pleasant sigh, "I'd like to think that maybe my fathers spirit still remains here, and every day i make sure to clean up this place, so that one day I could create a brand new park, in memory of my father who i had never met." Y/n turned to her friend now, who stood on the brink of tears.

"That is so sad and beautiful!" Cat whimpered, causing her friend to chuckle and wave a hand in dismissal.

"Aw don't be so glum! I mean, if my father had never passed, I most likely wouldn't be where i am today." Y/n smiled warmly, and Cat swore she saw the flowers around them shine more.

The pair decided to sit in the middle of this beautiful scenery and enjoy each other's company, pointing out cute animals and interesting plants. Throughout Y/n's life, she had never met anyone quite like Cat. She grew up in chaos and reckoning, a spoon full of vengeance fed daily to her from her mother who lived in grief and defiance of those who wronged her beloved. She was surrounded by the crooks and villains of Gotham, her Uncle J would have a few words to say about her sticking to the books rather than the pranks. She nearly laughed at the thought, knowing very well she'd put him behind bars the second she had the chance, but for her mother's safety she left it to the caped cruisader and his little helper, Robin. She always wondered who they were, especially Robin considering he seemed to be young like her.

"You seem lost in thought, Y/n. Is it the history teacher? 'Cause same." She giggled, covering her mouth shyly as she saw Y/n turn her head to meet eyes.

Y/n smiled softly once more, biting her lip to try and hold back the chuckle already leaving her mouth, "I'll never understand you, Cat."

MEANWHILE, BENEATH WAYNE MANOR:

"I don't see what's so hard to understand here, Damian." Bruce spoke flatly, though after many years together Damian could tell he was growing impatient. Though it wasn't his fault his father was an idiot sometimes.

"You want me to kidnap this new masked vigilante, I understand that. What I don't understand, father, is why. You do realize we're masked vigilante's too? They aren't doing any harm, in fact they're helping us clean the streets of gotham from scum like Riddler and Pyg." Damian crossed his arms over his chest, taking a defensive stance. If it was one thing Damian learned through vigorous training with his father is never to back down from a fight, even a verbal one.

"That's just it, Damian, they never take on the big guys, only small low life thugs and gangs. I've seen footage of them, they have extraordinary gifts, why not use them to defeat bigger problems? I need to speak to them, to see them for myself. Right now I consider them a threat." Bruce concluded, turning away from Damian to enter a few things in the bat computer.

"Now I understand," Damian began, "you're threatened by them for being good at their job. You're scared that one day that bat symbol in the sky will be replaced with a new symbol, that Commissioner Jim Gordon won't have you on speed dial anymore, that the people of Gotham won't need you anymore. It's time you learned father that no matter how much you train yourself, you can't stop the inevitable. There are other heroes that Gotham needs, others that aren't your sidekicks. I'll help you with your little pity party, but I refuse to kidnap them. We do what we do best and track them down, have a real conversation with them. Not everything is solved with a batarang and a swift punch, father." With that, Damian retreated, leaving Bruce to whatever research he felt like digging up on the elusive hero.

Alfred watched as Damian entered the kitchen, grabbing a water bottle to head up to his room, "Master Bruce is only worried about you, Damian." Alfred spoke up, making Damian halt.

"No, Alfred, father is only worried about himself."
