Every story has a beginning. Every story has an end. Some are happier than others, some end in huge cliffhangers. There are fairytales, fantasy, action, science fiction, non-fiction, to name a few.
This is but one of those stories. Stories have the power to change lives, and for a girl who visited the Library, her life is forever changed. Books and stories are powerful, too. But, don't take my word for it, I'm just retelling the story.
It might be best to tell the story from the girl's point of view. See what she sees, feel what she feels. This is the story of Athena Trueheart, and it will be one to remember.

Athena's Point Of View
"Athena!" an ominous whisper called to me. I felt strange, like if someone injected me with something. I followed the whisper down the road. I never blinked. Not once.
"Athena. Come here, sweetheart," the voice came from a small sewing shop. I opened the door and a tiny bell ringed.
"Hello! May I help you find anything?" a short woman with her hair in a messy bun asked. I turned my head towards her slowly. A small mirror was behind her and I saw my eyes. Not my normal gray, but a bright green.
"Hold you hand in front of her." I did, and she was blasted backwards, out the window, causing glass to fall over the sidewalk and the street. I lowered my hand and whipped my head around and continued to follow the voice.
"Touch the needle!" As the voice said that, a needle on a small table began to glow green and float. I held my finger out, but hesitated.
"What are you waiting for?!" the voice screamed. I flinched at the sudden outburst. I finally calmed and lowered my finger onto the needle, drawing blood. When I pulled my finger away, a trickle of scarlet blood streamed down my finger. I felt drowsy, and wobbled as I walked towards the door to leave. I never made it.
3rd Person Point Of View
Athena wobbled, catching herself on a table as she fell. She pushed herself up and began walking again. She stopped once she saw police lights. A police officer went to the unconscious woman on the sidewalk outside the shop, while another one headed up to Athena.
The officer began asking questions, but somehow Athena couldn't hear him. Her eyes rolled into the back of her head and she collapsed.
"Hello, dispatch? Yeah, I need you to send double ambulances! Now!" the officer called into his radio. He began to search Athena for an ID. He found a wallet with her picture and her name. He then checked her neck for a heartbeat. He found one and sighed, but it wasn't the end yet.
Sirens grew as the officer waved one of the medical crews over to Athena.
"Her name is Athena Trueheart and she just collapsed. She still has a heartbeat, but I don't know if she will in 5 minutes!" the officer informed the medical crew.
"Okay, thank you, Officer Heyer. We will take good care of her," the main man said, helping his crew get Athena onto the bed. "Let's go! Time's a wasting!" The medical crew dashed towards the hospital, sirens blazing all the way. Officer Heyer looked around and found a needle, coated in a green slime. He used a piece of cloth to pick it up. Once he did, the needle disappeared.
"That's weird," Officer Heyer remarked, inspecting the green goop left over on the cloth. A sinister laughter filled the air, followed by a neon green flash in the sky.Author's Note

So, yeah. These are the characters that you will see mostly throughout this book.
