Casey's POV
Aaliyah. I thought to myself. I watched her run away, her legs hitting the ground hard and fast as she turned the corner. I sighed, cause I doubted I would ever see her again. I turned around and started the trek to our new house.
Aaliyah's POV
I burst into the house, and my uncle was sitting by the dining room table, an envelope in his hand. I saw my school emblem on the front and my breath drew short. I didnt know that report cards were out yet. How come the school didn't make an announcenent? Why didn't anyone else tell me th-
"Aaliyah," my uncle began. It was only then that I noticed tears were in his eyes. He was kind of an emotional guy, the littlest of things upset him. He had alot of self control, though, so I knew if he was crying, it had to be out of extreme frustration, sadness, or happiness. I couldn't tell what emotions these tears held, though. He took a deep sigh, then began.
"Ever since you came to live with me, you have been a wonderful young lady. You stay out of trouble, you're so kind to everyone, you..."
He starts sobbing uncontrollably. I stand still and forget to breathe... I never know what to do when he starts to cry.
"It.. It's okay unc... It's okay," I mumble, convincing neither of us that it actually was.
I hear him muttering something under his breath between his sobs. I took a step closer to him and all I hear is "My poor brother, my brother, how could they do this to my bro-"
"When we all get to heaven..."
"My brother!"
"What a day of rejoycing that will be..."
"How COULD they?"
"When we all see Jesus..."
"Bring him back!
"We'll sing and shout the victory."
"BRING HIM BACK!"
"BRING HIM BACK!"
"Ohhhhh, my poor bro-""-ther."
I only realises the tears were there when I tasted them. My uncle looked me dead in my eyes. "He would have loved you, Li. All this hard work you put into what you do, how beautiful you are, how creative you are, how-""Thank you, unc."
"No, listen to me, I-"
"Can I get my report card please?"My uncle looked at me and I could see another well of tears beginning to form. He looked down, and a tear fell on my paper.
"Good job, Li," he said quietly. "I'm proud of you." He refolded the report card and headed to his room.I quickly grabbed the report card, and scanned my grades. They were all A's, nothing out of the ordinary for me. If I even got a B+ i felt as though I let him down. I promised him that I wouldn't fall short.
"This is great sweetie!" He exclaimed as he looked at my report card. "Always remember education is the way up and out, Princess Sunny. Gotta keep them grades lookin' good, aight?"
I let the tears fall for a second time.
Casey's POV
"Li-dot-aa? Doesn't sound like something she would be. Liiiiiyahh... I don't think she's that enthusiastic about anything. L.iyah? Could be. No, she lives in Michigan."
I had been trying to find this mystery girl's instagram for the past half hour when my brother, Trent walked into my room.
"We got business to do later, so be ready by 9:45."
"Okay," I mumbled as he walked out.
"Prince.ss" I doubted it was her but I clicked on it out of curiosity. The bio read
"Princess Li..🌤
ATL..🇬🇪
Sr..🎓"
I figured it wouldn't hurt to request to follow. I then put my phone down and went to go and get ready for later.
