The next month progressed in an odd and unexpected fashion as you slowly adjusted to your new werewolf roommate. You'd come home with a dog and woken up to a man with ears, claws, a tail, but his curiosity seemed to match that of a new pet more than anything. He sniffed at everything within your apartment, familiarizing himself with the scents of your kitchen, bathroom, living room, and even your bedroom where you had to keep him from opening up every single drawer since Kirishima had little knowledge about personal privacy.

The day after bringing him home you dressed him up as well as you could to hide his dog-like features, the tail being the most difficult. A roomy beanie hid his ears, though it looked odd with the warm weather, and some sweatpants managed to conceal his tail. He did have a distinct problem with wagging it underneath the pants, but if he wanted to go out at all without drawing attention he'd have to control himself.

"Oh, oh I like this one!" Kirishima said excitedly as he grabbed a very brightly patterned shirt from the rack in the department store. If he was going to stay with you, then he'd need his own clothes. His own style, though? Not really your thing, which would make separating laundry easy, at least.

He picked out some more shirts, a couple of pants that were either low enough on the hips where his tail could poke out, or roomy enough to conceal it, and a pair of bright red Crocs which you couldn't pry from his hands no matter how hard you tried. Neither of you liked the idea of hiding, but you weren't sure what would happen if the general population (or the police) would do if they found an actual werewolf wandering around.

Kirishima's penchant for casual affection must've carried over from being around other dogs and seeing how they interact with humans: jumping on them, licking their faces and hands, laying in their laps, etc. Even though he looked mostly human, his actions were still dictated by some of these details, most of which you didn't mind and got used to over time. You found out he enjoyed old action movies and kung-fu classics and would lay his head down on your lap as the two of you watched, his tail wagging whenever his favorite character would pop up or someone would do something "super manly" or badass. He also demanded you watch all these so-called "werewolf movies" so he could yell at the screen and point out all the terrible stereotypes and incorrect details in every single once. On the other hand you liked scary movies and comedies, and he let you cling to him whenever something unexpected or frightening happened (you enjoyed the thrill of being scared, but only by movies).

He also loved being scratched behind the ears, and hated whenever you ran the vacuum. Still, despite his sometimes odd behavior you enjoyed having him around more than you thought you would. It was nice coming home from work after a long day to someone who was always happy to see you. Kirishima tried to learn how to cook, wanting to earn his keep since he didn't have a job, and it wasn't that he was bad at it...but he couldn't really make much outside of basic meat dishes, and he wasn't even picky with those simple recipes. If it was meat, he'd eat it. You, on the other hand, actually liked vegetables, carbs, and fruits every once in a while.

You could drone on about something dumb happening at work, and he'd listen with perky ears while offering advice that never quite hit the mark. "Just growl at them" or "rub your scent over your stuff so no one takes it!" It was cute how much he tried, though.

In the end, you got used to his new but constant presence...which was dangerous, because eventually he'd want to leave, right? The weight at the other side of your bed where he slept curled in on himself felt right.

You were unaware that he'd wake at the smallest sound outside and watch to make sure you were safe before falling back asleep. You were unaware of how his ears would droop and his tail would go limp whenever you left for work. You were unaware of how his nose would wrinkle up with the mingling scents of unfamiliar strangers when you'd go out with friends and leave him behind at home.
