Chapter 4 (final chapter)

A couple weeks passed since Kirishima returned after his night out during the full moon, and you couldn't help but feel excited at once again coming home everyday after long hours at work to Kirishima's smiling face and wagging tail. You settled into a routine, occasionally bringing him out under disguise so he wasn't always cooped up in your apartment. The hats didn't bug him nearly as much as the pants to hide his tail, which he had to tie down to his leg to keep from accidentally wagging it. It wasn't ideal, but Kirishima saw all the effort as worth it if he could stay with you in your home.

There were occasions, though, that you just needed time alone or wanted to go out with friends and coworkers. It was nothing against Kirishima; everyone needed a bit of space every once in a while, right?

The hardest part was turning around before walking out the door and seeing those sad puppy dog eyes silently begging you not to go. He never outright said "stay" and his wave goodbye coupled with telling you to have fun and be safe wasn't insincere...but he was too much of an open book for you not to notice the small details in his gestures and looks.

Tonight was one of those nights.

"I'll be back later!" you called over your shoulder while grabbing your purse and adjusting your clothes one last time before heading out the door. Nothing too revealing or flirty, but something you definitely wouldn't wear to work or just out buying groceries.

Kirishima hummed before coming over to you for a hug like he always did before you left without him. "Be safe...and have fun!" His hugs were always warm and strong and welcome. Looking down, though, you noticed his tail wasn't wagging which contrasted with his tone. Maybe he was feeling a bit ill? You weren't one to be too invasive, though, and if he wanted to talk about something he rarely held back.

"I will, promise. If you're asleep when I get back I'll try not to wake you up," you said while slowly pulling away.

"It's OK, you can wake me up. I'll get paranoid if I know you aren't back." He was always so considerate, you couldn't help but give a small smile. Your friends were waiting, though, and you didn't want to be late.

"Bye, Kirishima." The words felt more strained than usual as you took one last look over your shoulder before scooting out the door and locking it behind you.

Once the Lyft dropped you off you texted your friends to see where they were at. "Already in the club...couldn't even wait for me, huh?" A small line formed in front of the building as a bouncer checked I.D.'s and ushered people in. When it was your turn he compared your photo on the laminated card to the real you, nodded, and opened up the door.

Immediately you were hit with blaring music within a dim setting, ceiling lights highlighting the bar and dance floor. "Hey! (Y/N)!" someone called to your left. Turning you saw your friends already busying themselves with drinks.

"So impatient," you mumbled while ordering a drink yourself from the bartender. "Let me get in one drink to loosen up before I bust my ass on the floor."

One of your friends laughed, kicking you in the shin with her boot for good measure. "Don't lie, you can drop it lower than any of us-"

"Yeah, so low I literally fall over. Don't forget last time." Catching up was good, though the music made conversation a bit difficult. You were halfway done with your drink before another friend poked your shoulder.

"So, anyone interesting in your life? Or are you on the prowl like the rest of us?" An flash of red entered your mind, but you shoved it away before plastering on a smile and shaking your head.

"No, not really. I've had some...odd encounters, but still living that single life."

Two of your friends exchanged a look that probably meant you'd be interrogated later, but one of your favorite songs came on at just the right moment. Downing the rest of your drink you grabbed them by the wrists onto the dance floor.
