Before they left the alleyway, Alfred called the others, letting them know that Matthew was safe. As soon as they got home, they were greeted by multiple worried faces. Everyone sighed in relief seeing Matthew home safe and sound, and Matt was even tackled by a crying Feliciano, followed by a very angry looking Lovino. "If you dare try running away again, I swear-a I will-a kill you myself!" Lovino said, clearly upset. "Ve~! We missed you so much-a!" The happier italian called, causing Matt's eyes to open in shock. "Y-You missed me?" He asked quietly, earning various gasps throughout the room. "Vas?! Vy vouldn't ve miss you?!" Ludwig shouted in his thick German accent. "Dummkopf...[Idiot...] Ve vere vorried sick. Don't even zink of doing zat again!"
"Ludwig is correct." Kiku's voice could be heard as he walked forward, taking hold of Matt's shoulder and looking into his eyes. "Would you tell us why you ran away, please?" He asked, and Matt just looked down, grasping Alfred's hand for assurance. Al smiled and squeezed his brothers hand to let him know it was ok. "Ifeelinvisible." Matt muttered, not remotely audible. Alfred sighed, and explained the situation. "Mattie here's been feeling invisible as of late, and I don't blame him. None of us pay attention to him, or listen to him when he speaks, and it isn't fair." Many people hung their heads slightly, feeling unbelievably guilty, they had caused their friend so much pain.
Alfred continued. "On July 1st, even me, his own brother, forgot his birthday." Various gasps were heard again, and Matt refused to look at anyone. Many people were now starting to cry a bit, and Matt started crying so he shoved his face into his brother to try and hide, this pulled at everyone's heartstrings. "We need to fix this, this can't continue. We all need to pay more attention to Matthew, it isn't fair for him to suffer like this. And we should start by simply speaking to him, and listening to what he says. Also, Ivan?"
Ivan looked at Alfred, and nodded. "Da?" He responded, his thick Russian accent echoing through the room. "You need to stop sitting on him every world meeting." Ivan's eyes widened. "Little Mattie, I so sorry. I not know what I was doing. We stay friends, da?" He asked, resting his large hand on Matt's shoulder. Matt just nodded, still hiding up against his brother. "Y-yeah, I f-forgive you I-Ivan." He said quietly, making the Russian smile.
After Matthew calming down, followed by various apologies, Arthur spoke up. "Say, shall we celebrate Matthew's birthday? I do realize it's far too late to make up for not remembering, but I do feel we should do something for the poor chap." Matt's eyes sparkled, and Alfred smiled at him. "Well? What do you say bro?" Matt smiled, and looked at Arthur. "T-Thank you, but I don't think I want, well, a party. Could we all just hang out together? Please?" Everyone smiled, and agreed to Matt's request.
They all stayed and chatted with Matt, and for once, Matt felt happy. Afterwards, Matt was left alone with his brother. He hugged Alfred suddenly, causing him to jump slightly. "M-Mattie?" He asked, hugging back. "Thank you. Thank you so much." Matt said very quietly, but just loud enough for Alfred to hear. "No problem, what kind of hero would I be otherwise?" Matt chuckled as Al ruffled his hair, before hugging Matt again. "I love ya bro. In a brotherly way!" Matt chuckled and squeezed his brother tightly. "I love you too bro."
A week later, they found Kumajiro, and things got better for Matthew. Everyone was careful to pay more attention to him, and Ivan tried his darndest not to sit on him any more. Unfortunately, Kuma would still ask who Matt was, but he didn't mind anymore, because he knew he was loved, and what made him happiest, was one simple fact...
He wasn't invisible anymore.
