Queen Akosua Nnefea Teanoh POV

My soldiers marched on the right side of me with their weapons drawn in accord across their chest with their deep green tribally decorated shields held at attention. The same overbearing sense of uncertainty crept up my spine as it did to my father when he was once in this position.

While my commanders marched on either side of me parading the Pan- African flag high I couldn't help but reflect to many of my people who had their privileges seized as they were dragged into a selfish trade of unmerciful slavery.

For the time being I shook the feeling and did my best to retain a straight face with my head held high aware that at this time the people needed a symbol of strength.

The coordinated striking of the traditional South African drums followed behind me as I was escorted up the rather tedious staircase to the palace. Upon entrance, the pace of the drums began to ascend, changing tones and rhythm demanding the attention of everyone as I stepped closer to the throne.

To what felt like ages as I passed the luxor table of the wise elders commonly known in South Africa for their wise and sensible nature I finally approached my father holding the extravagantly structured gold crown that once sat on my mother's head. Reaching out his hand, I take it gently as my father leads me in front of my throne watching me as he assumes his position on the left side of me. I look forward with my head held high as the drums speeds picked up to an agile rate signaling that the music was coming to an end, I presume to sit down gently placing both hands on my lap crossed with my back straightened with poise and the music ceased causing the room to be glass shatteringly silent. I contain my smile as I scope the room at the outstanding decor and elegance that lingered through the air. In the spur of silence, out came a sound that startled me slightly.

Queen Kamali Anyahe Zebene Balewa POV

My soldiers tread to the left of me with their heads held high and their weapons clutched sharply across their chest. Their red attire was complemented by the authoritatively embroidered black symbol of Gye Nyame—meaning the impotence of God.

As I strode closer to the throne my mind drifted to my mother who was dressed in her traditional white cloth decorated with a dark green that complimented her emerald jewels draped around her neck as well as her fingers.

Her gaze shifted capturing my eyes as I grazed over her stature and her lips formed a smile. I exchanged a smile but didn't hold it for long as the gruesome words of my mother's anger for me crept up the back of my mind, deeming me unfit for the throne as an effect of my sisters death.

I straightened my back as my feet strode towards the throne. My mind flashed vivid images of my sister in her final moments threatening my legs to crumble under the pressure. It hadn't gone unnoticed of what only I and God knew. This is a sorrowful but very undeniable reality. My coming into power is an opportunity to change the narrative my life was placed in the moment my sister took her last breath.

This is my promise as Queen.

As I reached the end of the path my mother stood there with a fraudulent overbearing motherly aura surrounding her. She held out her hand, hesitant to take it I glanced at it for a second before slipping mine into hers.

As we proceeded to walk towards the throne I made a mental note of every step making sure I would always remember the feeling of empowerment that flowed from the very crown of my head to the soles of my feet. The sound of loud drumming rung out and I flinched.

Queen Akosua Nnefea Teanoh POV

The drums pounded on every side of us invoking some kind of monotonous cloud over us. "On this day we are summoned for the mere calling from god himself, the crowning of Princess Akosua Nnafea Teanu . "There has been Monarch after Monarch setting here upon thrones dating back centuries I myself as King Abioye am honored to have been able to attend and place the very crown that sat on her late mother onto her."

Queen Kamali Anyahe Zebene Balewa POV

"Today is de day that I bestow the crown of North Africa onto de daughta of Awurade (God) himself. Kamali Anyahe Zebene Balewa is being bestowed with de power to rule nations and ensure the prosperity of Africa as a whole. With this crown that I place on her head I give her a tongue the power to command, feet with the power to lead, and eyes with the power to see usurpers, and a heart to give when giving is needed. My daughta' today you are making me proud as the now rightful heir to the throne." Everyone one in the audience enlivened and gladdened like the words were spoken by some kind of God—but that woman was no God.

Queen Akosua Nnefea Teanoh POV

And my daughter, my dear I hand to you the crown to not only reign over South Africa but to have the responsibilities and care of the nations people. I am proud of you my daughter, proud that you are ruling a nation just as I knew you would I want to tell you that despite me giving you the power of this nation personally you are responsible for caring for the north as you would for the south, a flower will not flourish without a sunshine and water, you two have to be the balance to the nation otherwise it will fall to ruin. The last piece of advice I have for you is that Fools learn from experience and the wise learn from history, for the sake of Africa I hope you two are wise.
