Before Paul Lahote could let a single breath escape, glimpses of moments with the girl flashed before his eyes.A warm pair of golden brown eyes stared at him over a steaming cup of hot coffee. His hand traced down her side, feeling the softness of her bare skin under his fingertips. A view of her gentle smile as she looked over her shoulder, a sweet voice echoing in the air. "you're not as tough as you think!" Spinning her around, arms wrapped around his neck as her laughter rang through his ears. The last image, gentle hands cupping his face as she leaned in pressing her lips against his.
This fire within him began to spread through every fiber of his body. At that very moment, Paul felt a strong pull towards the beautiful girl. Everything suddenly became clear and vivid. His entire reason for existing. There it stood, right in front of him.
And suddenly Paul had forgotten his reason for wanting to leave in the first place.
Ella backed away, confused by the sudden warmth overcoming her body. She felt the heat in her cheeks, she looked to her left where Sam and Emily stood to watch them. Ella managed to pull her arm out of Paul's grip, pulling her shoulders back and standing up straight. She slightly raised an eyebrow at him.
"Are you okay?" She softly questioned.
Paul slipped out of what felt like a trance, struggling to find the right words to say to such a simple question.
"Uh-um, yeah. S-Sorry about that!"
For the first time, Paul Lahote was stumbling over his words.
Ella watched as he stared, seconds felt like minutes as Paul's eyes scanned every inch of her face.
She was glowing, a hue of redness on her cheeks. He had no idea how he was making her feel at that moment. Her eyes, a soft brown stared right back at him, her eyelashes almost brushing against the long dark brown bangs that framed her face. Rose-tinted lips pursed together as she tried to figure out what to say next. But her eyes, Paul couldn't stop going back to her eyes. His heart raced as he looked into them, at that very moment wanting to take her in his arms and never let go. Flecks of deep brown mixed in with light hues, like copper against honey. In those very eyes, Paul Lahote could see eternal happiness.
"Paul. What the fuck."
Her eyes darted in another direction, where all of his brothers stood and watched.
"Please tell me you didn't." Embry furrowed his eyebrows, and what looked like anger flashed across his face. "Not on Ella dude..."
Ella was more than confused at this point, looking between her friend and Paul. Wondering what he meant by "not on Ella."
While Ella stood with obvious confusion on her face, Paul and everyone else in the house realized what he had done. Embry and Quil didn't want to believe it, their kind-hearted friend had been imprinted on by none other than Paul hot-head Lahote.
"Come on Ella,"
Before she could say anything, Quil had grabbed her by the arm and they headed down the steps of the front porch.
"Quil."
Ella yanked her wrist from his grip, furrowing her eyebrows not understanding why her best friend had grabbed her so suddenly.
"What are you doing?"
"Ella, let's just get out of here." He stated, grabbing her by the wrist once again.
Ella tugged it back, Quil slowly let go of her arm she took a step back.
"I have to drop these papers off for Emily, why are you being weird." She lowered her voice as she finished speaking, not that it made a difference everyone could hear her. Ella turned back around, locking eyes with Paul as he stood on the porch in the same spot they left him. Never in her life would have Ella thought Paul Lahote would give her butterflies but there they were strong and present in her stomach. She hesitated for a second, not wanting to walk up to him while at the same time wanting to get closer. She took a deep breath, hoping no one would sense her nervousness as she placed one foot forward walking past him and into the Uley home.
A look of curiosity faded from Emily's face and turned into a bright smile as Ella approached her.
"Hey Emily, my mom wanted me to drop these off for you."
Paul felt a wave of comfort as he heard her speak again, she was soft-spoken but her voice was appealing to his ears.
"Thanks, Ella, do you want a cookie?" She signaled towards a plate of cookies on the table.
"Thank you but I'm okay, I have to get back now I have a lot of homework" Ella lied, she had finished it all before she came over but all she wanted to was to get out of there. She could feel every pair of eyes in the room on her and she didn't like it. She still didn't understand what Embry meant by not on her and why Quil suddenly wanted to leave.
"Alright, well tell your mom I said thanks." Emily smiled, the scar on her face didn't take away from how beautiful she was. Ella smiled back, turning around and waving goodbye to everyone.
Paul still hadn't taken his sights off of her, even with Embry and Quils death stares. In the back of his mind, he knew exactly what had happened, yet he still struggled to process it while observing every detail about her. Her eyes met his for a moment, but she swiftly looked away focusing her gaze on the ground as she passed him. Paul could hear her heart racing, he couldn't resist when the corners of his mouth lifted into a small smirk. She had to be feeling the same way he was and it excited him and brought him almost a sense of relief.
He watched as she made her way back down the road with Quil tagging along behind her. This annoyed Paul, why was Quil so insistent on joining her? What would he say to her about him?
"PAUL IS IN LOOOOOOVE!"
Everyone burst out in laughter, Paul shot Brady a glare.
He turned to look at Sam who stood with a smirk on his face.
