The dreams stop.

The nightmares no longer haunt him.

Instead, Abel is left with a vague feeling of deja vu, of hazy memories that aren't quite his yet are.  He knows Carnage hasn't stopped killing, he knows.  Just as he knows that the monstrous alien has taken the liberty of manipulating him, of distorting his memories and making them nothing but a blur.  Indecipherable blurs that are meant to placate him, to keep the truth at bay.

The feeling of disgust, however, doesn't leave him.  Because his body is being used, because he's a killer.
But he's tired of arguing with the being inside of him.  Carnage always managing to stop any argument by taking a bite of his liver, proving a point that Abel can't and won't survive if Carnage doesn't do as he wants.

Abel feels selfish, selfish for giving into the pain.  And he chooses to stay awake, to not give in.  Not anymore.

He barely sleeps now, eyes heavy but mind racing.  And he finds out that Carnage doesn't hunt, not every night at least.

Just when he gets hungry.

So, two weeks later finds Abel lolling to sleep only to feel warmth engulf his legs.  He takes off the covers and finds red slime taking control of his body.  He panics until he realizes it's Carnage controlling his movements.

"C?" Abel calls, voice high pitched and scared.

What?  The symbiote grunts.

"What are you doing? Where are we going?"  He demands, though he knows.

He can feel the building hunger inside.

They walk out the house, Carnage leading them toward a dark alley where they find an old woman scavenging for food in dumpsters.  She looks up when he accidentally kicks a glass bottle.  Carnage completely aware that Abel did it on purpose.

"What do you want?" The old woman demands, voice raspy as if she were a former smoker.

Abel doesn't answer, suddenly tongue tied.  He turns to Carnage though, and pleads to the symbiote.

"Please don't do this," he begs, voice breaking, "please don't."

Carnage snorts, you wanted to stay awake, to see what I do when I'm hungry.  Now suffer the consequences.

Abel looks panicked as he screams, "Run!"

But Carnage is quicker.

The woman doesn't even have the chance when a strange tentacle-like appendage grasps her neck.

Carnage appears behind him, tall and red and angry.  He takes a bite and cuts the woman's head off cleanly.  The spray of blood nearly landing on Abel, but the symbiote covers him before he devours the rest.

Abel is in shock.  His legs give out and he falls to his knees, heart hammering inside his chest and the world sounding far away.

Carnage, however, has other plans.

He grasps the boy around the neck and slams him against the brick wall of one of the buildings.  Abel whimpers, tears running down his face as pain blooms behind his eyes.

"You think you can do as you please?" Carnage shouts, anger coloring his voice.

"I'm sorry," Abel chokes out.

He doesn't try to stop Carnage, to fight the hold on his neck only growing tighter and tighter.  All he does is wrap his trembling hand around Carnage's thick wrist and hold him there, loosely as he begins to lose consciousness.  Carnage doesn't let him and pulls back.  He watches as the human falls to the floor, coughing uncontrollably.  Watches as bruises form along his delicate hand.

Abel shivers.

And Carnage is suddenly hungry again.

But this hunger can't be satisfied so easily and he doesn't understand why he feels like he does.  He's never felt attraction, not to anyone or anything.  There's no point when he can reproduce asexually.  But Abel looks delectable.

His long tongue slithers out and he licks the boys cheek, wiping away the remnants of his tears.  Abel turns his head, looks away as he hugs himself close.

Carnage doesn't like that, doesn't like how closed off the boy is becoming.

"I'm doing this to keep us alive," he reminds, voice becoming softer.

Abel sniffles, "I know."

But it doesn't make it any better, he thinks.

Carnage licks him again.  This time around, Abel lets his arms fall to the side, lets Carnage do as he wants.

And Canrage finds that he wants more.

So much more.

Though he stops.

He swallows Abel whole and takes control.  The human falls asleep and when they get home, Carnage is ridiculously careful when he lays down in bed.

He disappears and recedes into Abel's chest, traveling down to nestle in his stomach where he finds something odd, something new.

Something delicious.

He doesn't touch.

Human anatomy is weird, but if he's honest, everything that's simply Abel is delicious.
