His knees buckle under his weight, breath knocked out of him as he grasps his side desperately. 

Tears quickly gather in his eyes and roll down his paling cheeks, as color drains from his face. 

He cries out, gasps for air, but no sound leaves his chapped lips.

A loud roar follows the ringing in his ears, his eyes quickly covered by warm hands to avoid witnessing the symbiote's rage.

He hears gunshots, hears Carnage scream in utter anger before silence envelopes them.

"Abel? Abel, can you hear me?"

The cover over his eyes is removed, but all he can see are blurred colors.

"He's going into shock," someone says, voice calm, "we need to get him to the hospital."

"Let me be with him, let me bond with him, I can save him."

And that's Carnage's voice, full of panic and need.

"We don't know the extent of the damage, if you try to repair it, you can end up doing more harm than good.  Especially for him and the baby."

Abel whimpers, reaching out for Carnage, for his mate.  Carnage envelopes him, but refrains from seeping into his skin.

"C?" The younger croaks weakly.

"It's okay, you're okay," Canrage soothes, large hand covering Abel's over his belly.

"Baby isn't moving," Abel sobs, "it hurts."

Carnage wants to lash out, to grab the one who hurt his mate and tear them to pieces again, to make him feel the agony Abel is going through.

"Carnage?"

The red symbiote looks up at his name, clawed hand clenched tightly.

"We need to get him to the hospital, we need to take the bullet out.  Only after the bullet is out, we can let you bond."

"I'll clean up the mess," Toxin volunteers, while Scorn stares quietly, pale at the sight before her.

"I'll stay and watch the kids," Anne offers, "Eddie?"

Eddie nods, "we'll go to the hospital."

Everything happens too fast, but Abel can't think, his mind a haze as he grows tired.  His eyes fluttering close.

"Stay with me," he hears, voice soft yet gravelly, "Stay with me, Abel."

Abel nods, tries to at least, but he can't keep his eyes open and everything goes dark.
