I honestly can't believe it is the last day of August. It seems like time has flown so amazingly fast this year. My friend pointed out the other day; in five years we graduate high school. In five years, we are totally on our own against the world. This also made me realize how short our teenage years truly are, which is why we should live them to the fullest.

I have learned so much in the past week, the first full week back to school. I guess I learned a few new Spanish words and about the Native Americans, but I learned so much more beyond that. I watched my friend nearly have a breakdown, saw some friendships disappear, and finally saw the cold reality of things.

I must confess I have sort of lived in a dream world right on the border of Who-Knows-Where. I refused to face the realitistic negatives of this bitter world. The other night, after talking to a good friend, I realized none of us knew exactly who we are. She used to know exactly who she was, and then she turned thirteen and lost sight of everything she ever knew. I can't even figure out why.

I wrote this song for her, as she is going through some things no girl should ever experiance. It's that time in her life when she just wants to get lost away from here, forget all the pain, and just escape. She sadly knows these moments too well.

Those Moments

Have you ever felt that moment

where you realized you may have done everything wrong?

Have you ever not known what you had,

until everthing is all gone?

When you realize the world ain't always what it seems,

and nothing comes out like in your dreams.

When no star seems to shine bright in the sky,

and every day is an endless battle to get by.

(Chorus) Those moments when you're sinking

in the ocean of reality.

Those moments when you're wondering if it will always be like this,

when your life just seems like a long road trip.

It never stops, now hold on tight; we're going around the bend.

I'll ride my life forever and my dreams will never end.

Have you ever felt that moment,

when you realize someone isn't as they seem?

And all their beautiful qualities,

are only just a dream?

Have you ever found out,

that everything in your life is unsure?

Or that your heart is broken,

and you just can't find a cure?

(Chorus)

We can't always know the difference between right and wrong,

but it's recovering from these mistakes that make us strong.

We don't always know at first, the difference between love and lust,

and we only understand after those moments get to us.

(Chorus)
