IN A WORD: NO.
I'm sorry to all of those who were hoping that simply sending me your book with the phrase "read this" was going to get me to bend to your will, but I'm not in the business of reading stories because people tell me what to do, but to those who ask me, I regret to inform you that I'm not in the business of reading your stories either.
Frankly, I have a hard time reading any stories on here anymore, including my friends'. At the time of writing this, I am trying to take a break away from the social side of this site, at least to an extent, so there are instances where I won't even check my close friends' introduction to their story, because I don't feel good when I read them. You can check my misc. book for the chapter titled '20190203. new year's resolution' for more information.
But for those who aren't my friend and simply hoping that I will read your story if you ask, I have a reason for you: I don't read if I don't want to. I'm not trying to be rude or trying to downplay your story, because I don't know your story and I bet it's great and I bet you worked hard, and that's great! But if I read your story without any interest, all you get is an added read on your count and possibly a vote. I can't guarantee a thought out comment or any real emotional investment without your story and, frankly, that doesn't sound like a fun time for either of us.
If you want people to read your stories, just be patient! Don't comment on other people's stories for their readers to read yours, because that's incredibly rude and will most likely get yourself an angry message and muted, because you're trying to use someone, which isn't okay. I know that we all want our stories to be recognized, because we work hard, and we deserve recognition, but being patient is key.
I didn't gain the number of readers that I have overnight. I've been on here for two years now, bordering on three, and I didn't ask people to read my stories. I just kept writing and tried to reach out to an audience that would be interested, and that all depends on being able to market your work without compromising yourself. Don't write for your readers, write for yourself, and your readers will flock towards you.
Anyways, this isn't me trying to explain to you how to get reads, this is me trying to explain why I won't be one of your readers if you ask me to read your story.
I also don't really have the time? I'm a senior in high school and going off to college, and I have a lot of homework as well as some issues concerning my ability to focus and work, not t mention that I write a lot of stories. Like, a lot. So if I want to be able to truly appreciate your work, I'm going to need the time, which I really don't have.
TLDR; I don't take reading requests because I'm putting my mental health first, I haven't been able to read any stories in some time due to my inability to focus well, and I don't have the time.
If you have any more questions, just let me know and I'll respond to them in the comments where you can also check to see if your comment has already been answered!
