Prologue:
Suddenly a strange chill took over my body, and I squeezed the fluffy blanket tightly around my body. I have been awaiting for midnight's arrival, and now that it finally did, I couldn't help but allow a small smile to escape my lips.
I closed my eyes, thinking about him. The softness of the feathers, the way the smooth whites of the wings fluttered against the gentle breeze with elegance and those enigmatic deep sapphire of his eyes that never failed to knock the breath out of me. His beauty was out the bounds of humanity.
Eventually, my eyes felt heavy and sleep consumed my soul. I tumbled into a dark abyss, knowing what was to arrive next. I have been through this first once, then twice, thrice and now many of the uncountable nights.
My arms and legs flailing into complete darkness of an unfathomable joy, I landed with a smooth thud. I glanced down, and beneath me was the all too familiar bright green of the grass. Up above me, the sky was glazed with a mystical aurora of pink and orange. It all appeared to unearthly, definitely a peculair beauty.
I forced my eyes to pull away from the alluring view, and looked around, searching for the tree where he usually stood, awaiting for my arrival every night. And soon I caught the giant weeping tree from the corner of my eyes, the wind chanting a sweet harmony, making the leaves dance with joy.
I marched up to the tree in slow steps, the sweet fragnance making me lightheaded. As always, I was expecting to find him leaning against the bark and watching the waterfall, evidently absorbed in his own world and losing track of time. Once I reached the other side of the bark, there was no desolate figure. I looked around, wildly, wondering if he was hiding from me.
I felt a gentle touch on my right shoulder, and I whipped around to find the most mesmerizing and compelling blue holding my gaze. Oh. There he is.
"Looking for someone?" he asked, mischief dripping from his voice and a grin spread across his lips. He stood casually, those impressive arms folded across his chest and the wind blowing against his smooth hair that I swear was darker than nightfall. My gaze lifted up, meeting the wings, which were such a white; it overpowered the purity of the clouds above; a beauty too much to bear through fragile eyes of a mortal.
The way he spoke casually, he seemed unaware of the butterflies he awakened inside my stomach each time. Did he really hold no clue? I was in love with this boy.
But I think I have gone mad for good. This isn't reality. As soon as the clock strikes midnight, I live a life which must be a fantasy. Why am I falling in love with someone that is probably not even corpereal? But it was the undeniable reality; it was too late to fall out of love by now...
"There you are, Aiden. So what you got in store for me today? Hmm?" I asked, cheekily, shaking those dark thoughts out of my mind.
"Oh, angel. You expect way too much of me," he took my hands in his. He always held me tight, but yet I deny admitting that he feels the same way I feel about him. We were just friends, and he was too pure and perfect for an ordinary girl like me.
