If I Die Old
If I die old,
I hope to look
back on my life
with a sense
of gratitude
to have been
fortunate enough
to live that long.
I will be humbled
by the grace
bestowed upon me.
A chance that so many
are not afforded.
Growth
People change.
And they don't
need your
permission to
do it.
Purpose
I would rather
stand for
something than
stand for nothing.
Dream Big
If people aren't
telling you your
dreams are crazy,
then you're not
dreaming big enough.
Crazy doesn't
mean impossible.
Failure
I would rather
have tried
and failed
than to fail
to have tried.
Second Chances
I think it's best you go.
You're no longer a friend of mine
but a foe.
And your presence here
pains me so.
You're like John Doe.
I don't know
who you are anymore.
Too many times
we've been here before.
You say sorry,
I take you back.
The cycle goes on.
I just can't keep on anymore.
Your second chances
have come and gone.
I'm moving on.
I won't accept
anymore apologies.
Something's gotta give.
But it ain't up to me.
This isn't the way
I want to live.
I don't want
things to remain
as they be.
I remember you said,
you'd always be
there for me.
But you never
lived up
to the deed.
I was always there
for your rescue.
But for me,
you never
showed up
on cue.
