"What do you do?" she's so far learned that he's nineteen like her and his father's family is French.
"I act, still definitely getting started but I've had a few small roles. It's why I moved here, a lot more opportunities. What about you?" he almost gets shy talking about it so he shifts the conversation to her.
"I sing, also still kinda getting started. I mostly do the small stages at festivals but it's fun, I'm not really looking to gain too much as long as there's someone listening," she's very passionate about her music and wants it to get out there but if it doesn't, that's okay.
"I'll send you something I've been in if you send me one of your songs," Timothée proposes while he goes to pick up his second slice of pizza.
"Deal"
"What's the biggest show you've played?" he asks and it looks like they're about to go back and forth with questions now and neither of them are complaining.
"I did Lollapalooza in Chicago last year, small stage and i was at like the very bottom of the lineup but i don't even care it was the coolest thing ever," she doesn't like to brag but if someone asks, she's not one to hold back very much. It's more out of being proud of herself than anything.
"Lara that's sick," he's impressed, he'll admit it.
"What about you? What's the biggest thing you've been in?"
"Probably nothing you've seen, a few Sundance films, mostly independent so far but I'm hoping that being here will change that, I'm taking every opportunity I can," he explains.
"That's what I did when I first moved here"
"Where are you from?" he questions with a tilt of his head to the side.
"Boston, I moved here on my eighteenth birthday with Jessica and her boyfriend, that's my friend who you saw earlier"
"She was staring at me pretty hard to have a boyfriend"
"She said she was staring 'for me', she's wild"
"This pizza is good as fuck," he takes the subject off of the idea of Lara's best friend wanting then to date as he goes for another slice of pizza.
"I know, vegan food isn't even that bad"
"Are you completely vegan?" he ponders aloud.
"No, I try my best but I mostly just try to be healthy, I slip up sometimes on like, cheese and shit, vegan cheese sucks," it's the only thing keeping her from going full vegan and it's annoying as hell.
"I've never tried it, except for now I guess, it's okay"
"You're good company," once again, she's bold.
"Thank you, and thank you again for having me over. I'm glad I have a Californian friend," making new friends was his biggest worry, as he came on his own and knows no one on the west coast, "I'm so fucking tired though so I need to get back home and sleep, maybe we could do this again sometime," he hates to go but he really needs to sleep in his own bed since it's been hotel rooms for the last few nights.
"Of course we can, can I get your number, so I can send you music," they both know it's more than just that, but they'll both pretend that it's not.
"Yeah, let me see," he holds his hand out for her phone which she hands to him and quickly puts his phone number into it.
"Just text me and I'll send you something I've been in," he stands up to go for the door to her apartment and she follows, walking him out, "this was really nice, I'll see you around," he sends her one last smile before exiting her apartment and entering his own.
Lara first places the leftover pizza into her fridge, tosses her empty water bottle into her recycling bin, noticing that he took his, and heads to her room to prepare for a shower before bed.
But first she texts timothée a link to her Spotify and then sends another to Jessica.
"invited hot neighbor in for pizza and he's an actor and the sweetest thing. i think I'm in love"
