Silence. We’ve been sitting there in silence for about an hour. She hugged me every once in a while when I was about to cry again… she never said anything. It was just pure silence.
The night after, I saw her sitting on the bench we were last night. It was as if she was waiting for something or rather someone. Aynn came and sat beside her. They talked for a while but Aynn felt sleepy and headed home. Bianca wrote something on the soil beside her before she left. Out of curiosity I got outside when she left. “I’ll be here for you. Tell me when you’re ready.”
How touching. Does she care? I knew she’s nice but I didn’t expect her to be this nice.
The next day, the three of them was outside, chatting. “Bat ngayon ka lang?” Ziaque said, walking by me towards my house. “Errands” I answered. Mom asked me to pay for the bills. “Oh? Get changed!” Bianca said. “Then tambay muna tayo.” Aynn added.
I got changed and went out. We talked, I mean they talked, I listen. I state my opinion every once in a while and laugh on the right time. It was getting dark and the girls are feeling tired. I said I’ll stay for a while and Bianca offered to join me. “I would like to stay too but I got a make-up quiz tomorrow, have to study. Sorry.” Ziaque explained. “And I’m tired because of practice. Sorry din” Aynn said waving and leaving with Ziaque. That leaves Bianca and I on the bench.
“So are you planning on telling me?” Bianca said all of a sudden.
“Explain what?”
“You were crying the other night.”
“Oh…” my face fell.
“You owe me! I didn’t hug you for nothing.”
“Ok, ok.” She got me there. What am I going to tell her?
“I’m not forcing you. You can tell me some other time.” She smiled.
I just nod. “I just want to know. Maybe I can help.”
Yes she can! She really does help, all the time.
We sat in silence for about 20 or was it 30 minutes? Then I began. “It’s my mom.” She looked at me waiting for me to continue, “She’s having problems with her job.” I don’t look at her but I can feel that she’s staring at me.
“Plus this girl that I like...”
“You like someone?! Who?” That broke the silence she’s really enthusiastic about this.
“I argued with her the other night.” I didn’t bother answering her questions.
“Why?”
“naibuntong ko sa kanya yung badtrip ko eh.”
“madalli lang yun!” the smile on her face keeps on growing. I looked at her confused.
“Be home early!”
“Why?”
“Just be home! I better get some sleep.” She said standing. “You should too.” Then she left.
I sat there alone for some time to think then head to my room.
