(Note: The quotation marks aren't straight from the verses. It's just a key thing I want to point out as you read it in your own Bible)
Joshua 1:5-9
1) verse 5- It says "I will never leave you or forsake you."
God is saying that you're not going to be there by yourself in the hard times. God will never leave you; He's right there next to you! That's His promise and He will never break it as He has never broken a promise. Even if it doesn't really seem like He's with you, He is! The Holy Spirit is with you. He who lives in you is greater. No one like Satan or ANYONE can beat the one in YOU. If you still feel like it's not true, you need to open your eyes! He's always there, we are the ones who are blind enough to see it.
2) verse 7- "meditate on the Book of the Law (the Bible) day and night, then you will be prosperous."
Follow and Obey what He says. We need to follow the Bible, read it, memorize it. Don't compromise with the world! They will tell you discretely (not always physically) that it's okay to skip just ONE QT, but NO! "Don't turn to the left or to the right," just keep going straight to God. You will be prosperous and successful as God promises.
3) verse 9- "Be strong and courageous."
Don't be afraid or discouraged because God will always be with you. God commands that to us (reread the verse again if you missed it). He doesn't say 'recommend' or 'try this.' No. He COMMANDS us. Be strong. Be courageous. If God is with you than who can be against you?
You can command your spirit when you feel lazy and don't want to read the Bible or go to God. It may sound weird to command your spirit at first but it works. GET INTO THE HABIT. When you have met God do you think the Spirit inside of you is stronger than anything around you? YES! If you give up all this, then your wasting the power God has given you. Be strong and courageous. GET UP!
Conclusion
1) Know God is with us.
2) Obey and follow his Word
3) Be strong and courageous.
CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE.
Even when you go through your valleys and challenges, remember these things.
