Wind blew Sal's hair into his face as he swung his legs in the air. He adored the view from the top of Addison Apartments, a wonderful sense of serenity filled him as he admired everything from his perch. Sometimes, inspiration would strike and he'd even write about what he saw in his notebook.
'Maybe I should bring Larry up here one day...', Sally thought to himself.
Downstairs, Larry bangs on the Fisher's door, receiving no answer. He throws an unintentionally angry fist against. The door. "Yo! Sally!" Still no answer. He shoved his hands. into his pocket, leaning into the door, listening. The hum of famous voices echoed off the TV, but Sal hates television, so it was probably Gizmo.
Larry rummaged through his back pocket, pulling out his walkie-talkie.
"Sally Face? Where are you, over?"
Sal jumped, startled, pulling the walkie-talkie out of his bag and answering. "I'm up on the roof, Larry Face. Come on up and meet me, over."
A smile emerged on Sally's face. Just hearing Larry's voice put butterflies in his stomach.
Larry smiled. Listening to Sally's voice was comforting, especially after Travis's bullying. It was nice to hear him so calm.
"Yeah, sure! Meet you there!"
Larry was too impatient to wait for the elevator to arrive, so instead, he sprinted up the stairs. That was until he tripped over his lanky self, and face-planted straight into the next step.
"Ah, shit!" He hissed in pain as blood spurted from his nostrils. Needless to say, he walked the rest of the way.
Sally let his legs swing in the wind as he leaned back on his hands, humming quietly. He had considered multiple times telling Larry how he felt about him but always chickened out. He wasn't sure if it would ruin their friendship if the taller boy didn't feel the same way.
Sal turned around as he heard the hatch to the roof open and Larry climbed up.
"Hey, Lar- HOLY CRAP WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?!?"
Larry smiled, Face bloodied and his nose somewhat crooked, and blood dripping onto his Sanity's Fall tee-shirt.
"Just knocked my nose in the stairs," he rubbed the back of his neck. "Hi, by the way,".
Sal scrambled to his feet and rushed over to him, pulling a napkin out of his bag to clean up the blood.
"Wow Larry, I knew you were clumsy but this is new." Sally reaches up to softly blot the blood off of his friends face.
Larry looks away, thankful of the blood hiding his blush. "Ummmmm...." He felt Sal stop for a second.
"Why were you so close to the edge?"
"I love heights. It's...relaxing." He finishes wiping the blood off of Larry's face and looks him in the eye.
"Don't worry, I'm not planning on jumping off. I don't want to leave you behind."Larry looks at his feet, unwilling to look Sal in the eyes, ashamed of something. Before Sal has an opportunity to ask, Larry shifts the weight in his feet and clears his throat.
"Wanna go listen to Sanity's Fall while eating ice cream?"
Sal tilts his head and nods, realizing that Larry seems uncomfortable. "I'd love to." He looks back at the edge of the building and then back at Larry. He opened his mouth, hesitant, but decided to ask anyways.
"Hey dude, are you okay?"
Larry coughs in surprise, averting his gaze.
"I'm always okay."
