chapter 2

The first few days of my visit were good, i dropped bella off at school everyday and picked her up because that death trap of a truck will not do and when she was at school id go down to the station and help dad and then we'd watch the game with billy black and his son jacob. However today bella drove her truck to school cause i was going through some details on my lap top about one of the last missions i went on. i had been writing for three hours by the time i had finished.

When i did finish, i drove to the store and picked up some food before home and starting dinner, however before i could even put anything on my phone rang
"Hello" i said
"Hey mr swan its angela one of bellas friends"
"Hello angela what can i do for you"
"Your sister is in the hospital, tylers car got out of control and it hit her"
i hung up my phone and stormed out of my house and onto my bike forgetting my helmet.

i road to the hospital at the fastest speed i could go, when i got there one of the nurses looked up and instantly knew who i was
"Room 203" she said
i nodded and marched down the corridor, i walked in "Isa" i shouted
"Jace" i heard her say
i walked around the corner to see her with a doctor and edward cullen, i rushed over and hugged her tightly
"Im fine jace" she whispered
"You scared the crap out of me" i whispered into her hair, i looked to the bed next to her and saw a guy with a gash on his head
"Is that tyler" i asked
"Yes" edward said
"You and me and gonna talk and expect that pretty little face to remain pretty, and im gonna make sure you loose your licsens" i growled at the boy as i held bella.
I'm no stranger to death but knowing my little sister had come so close to dying made me scared.
i looked to the doctor and saw he had the same eyes as edward and alice "Is she ok" i asked
"She may have a but of PTSD but she should be fine"
"Thank god" i said
"You should be thanking edward he pushed me out of the way" bella said
"Do i have to" i mumbled
she gave me a look
I looked to edward and nodded that was as far as i'm going. just then dad ran in and i walked out, i walked, i walked down the corridpr and slammed my fist into thw wall and slowly sunk to the ground, i put my head in my heads and started to breath heavily, i felt someone sit on either side of me and i began to calm down, i looked up and saw alice on one side, adaliade on the other and jasper in front of me

Alice placed her hand on my hair and made me look at her
"Are yiu alright jason" she asked
i didnt trust myself to speak so i just nodded and looked down again trying to concentrate on my breathing
"Jase" i heard my father shout
we all looked up but none of us moved not even when he kneeled in front of me
"did you take your medication" he asked, i shook my head and he pulled a pack out of his pocket and handed them to me, my hand was shaking so much i couldnt get them out so alice took them from me and gave me two and gave the packet tto my father, i put them in my mouth, closed my eyes
"Jason" he whispered
"Take Isa home" i said my voice thick with emotion, i knew he wouldnt fight me cause i never wanted my sister to see me like this, i hated when people saw me like this, i began to get angry with myself and that boy, i growled and stood up
"Jason dont" alice said
i looked at her before i stormed back to the room where the doctor and tyler where, i pinned him to his bed
"If you ever go near bella again i will kill you, am i clear" i growled
he nodded and i stormed out and got to my bike i went to get on but fekt someone touch my shoulder, i tensed and gripped there arm, i turned and dropped it when i saw it was jasper
"Im sorry" i said
"Its fine, but my sister made me come get you, she wont let you drive your bike until your calm and would like you to come and meet our parents" he said in a southern accent
"Why" i asked
"My sister may have a tiny crush on you" he smirked
i chuckled and looked at the bike "Dont worry emmett will drive it to the house and you can leave whenever"
i looked at him and nodded and followed him to his car where his sister and his girlfriend were waiting

i smirked at jasper as i leant again the car near alice
"So miss cullen i heard you were worried about me"
she glared at jasper before getting in the car, i chuckled and got in next to her.
Once we were all in alice began to drive "So Jason how long have you been in the military" Adalaide asked
"Coming up to five years now" i said
"Why did you leave" she asked
"I didnt, i'm on leave, i can get called back at any time" i said sighing
"You dont wont to go back" jasper said
"it's not that, ive gone five years, ive missed out on my little sisters life and my mother getting married" i said
"What are you" alice said
"Major Jason Swan at your service ma'am" i smirked
"A major i used to know one" alice said
"You still do" i muttered looking at jasper for a second
"What" she said
"You dont really hide your secret well, you may not drink off humans but you still drink blood" i said and smirked at their reactions
"How" alice said intriuged and confused
"Humans arent the only ones that fight in war alice, we have vamps and wolves as well" i said
"why didnt i see that" she asked
"You see the future" i asked
she nodded and i held up my hand showing her an old fashioned ring "It was spelled by a witch, to make vampire abilities useless against me" i smled at her
they nodded

it was silent for a while until adalaide spoke up "How did you know that jazz was a major"
"We get told about jasper whitlock when we join the army, the youngest ever major in the texas calvalry" i smirked
he chuckled but then turned serious "How many"  he asked, causing the girls to look confused but me to tense
"16" i said
"how old" he asked
" no idea" i said and he nodded dropping the subject

We pulled up to a large beautiful house, i got out the car and basically got dragged into the house by alice
"Alice slow down will ya" i asked sge stopped smiled and then carry on
we walked into the living area of the house to see doctor cullen, rosallie, emmett and another woman i didnt recongise
"Esme, this is Jason"
"Hello" she smiled holding out her hand for me to shake
"hello ma'am" i said taking her hand and kissing the back of it
my phone began to ring, i looked at it and saw it nathan from my regiment
"My appologises" i said and answered the phone

"Whats wrong nathan" i asked
"Jase its not nathan, its mary and hes scaring me, he keeps saying that it was all his fault" she said
"Mary is he there" i asked
"yeah" she said
"Give him the phone" i said and looked at jasper, he nodded and i bowed my head slightly.
"Jason" his hoarse voice said
"Nathan what do you see" i asked sitting next to alice who took my hand strocking the top of it
"everything, everyone. all the blood, god we've spilt so much blood, it's on my hand, in yours' why wont it go away jase"
"Nathan listen to me, everything we did, we did to protect our selves, to protect each other and to protect the world, yes we have blood on our hands but we have saved more lives then we have taken. nathan are you taking your meds" i asked
"No" he said
"Nate take them, they help trust me" i said
The next voice i heard was marys
"He cant go back" she whispered
"i know and he wont give me a few hours" i said and hung up and closed my eyes before taking a breath and grabbing my phone

i dialed a number and waited as it rung
"Major swan what can i do for you"
"Nathan Johnson cant be deployed"
"Why" he asked
"He's seeing things that arent there" i said
"Jase he's due to be shipped out in six weeks, i cant find anyone new in six weeks" he sighed
i looked up at everyone and jasper seemed to know what i was thinking because he shook his head but i shook my head apologectically
"Then deploy me" i said and alice gasped
"Swan"
"With all due respect sir, nathan is 21 years old he has a wife and a child on the way and he's seeign thing s that arent there. all i have is a sister, mother and father that will eventually forget me when i'm gone and thats all i need, dont let that child loose its father" I said
"Well then major swan be at the airport in five weeks and six days. until then goodbye"
"Bye" i said and hung up

i put my phone in my pocket and slid down the wall
"Jason" esme whispered
"How am i supposed to tell Isa, she's always so scared i might never come home and now i might now, she's gonna be angry and upset and im gonna miss out on her life" i said
i opened my eyes
"I need you to promise me something" i said looking at carlisle he was the leader of this coven
he nodded
"If i dont coem home, look after her, even if it means you have to leave her make sure shes safe and if she turns look after her" i said
"We will" carlisle said
i nodded and began to walk out
"Where are you going" alice asked grabbing my arm
"I need to think for a bit. Dont worry little pixie ill see you soon" i said kissing her head and walking away.
