"How much?"

Kang Yeosang was currently sat behind his desk, tapping his slender fingers against his leg, trying desperately to control his rage in front of his assistant. Then again, it wouldn't hurt to just replace him.

"Uh, around three kilograms sir."

Great. Absolutely great. Three kilograms of pure cocaine, gone, stolen from him right under his nose. This day could not get any worse.

But he controlled himself. After all, it's much more entertaining to see their faces when you're quiet.

"And which warehouse?"

Yeosang's face twitched. This twitch, apparently, was quite noticeable, as the subordinate man in front of him shifted his stance, and squirmed beneath the boss's gaze. A bead of sweat dripped from his jawline, hitting the bearskin silently.

At the very least, he deserved to know where it was from before he shot the guy.

"I believe it was from section A, warehouse 4 sir."

Well, he was wrong. This day could get worse. Especially after he shoots a bullet through his favourite rug.

Deafening silence barged into the room, taking its place between the two men and settling on the mat. It seemed to sip its drink, making itself comfortable. Perhaps it would be there for a while.

...

Yeosang's eyes flickered between three things. The swirling, graceful patterns in the wood of his table, taking up his vision and invading his brain. The slight quiver of his assistant's lower lip, struggling to control itself as the man waited restlessly for any sound from his boss. And the sleek, black pistol which lay on the tabletop, directly next to a picture of his father. Its trigger almost called out to him, taunting him. From inside the picture, his father's eyes burned into his soul, and once again the leader was reminded of his father's last words before he passed.

'You're no son of mine, and you never will be. A betrayal to my name.'

He had to prove himself.

"SHIT! WHY CAN'T YOU IMBECILES DO ANYTHING RIGHT? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?"

Heavenly white fur, infected with crimson blood. Seeping through the rug. Fake fur, yes, but that does not make it less designer. However, much more replaceable than his cocaine.

Which, to be honest, was fairly replaceable. He was rich for god's sake. The coke was worth millions, yes, but he could get those millions back in less than a week. So admittedly, it wasn't really the drugs that Yeosang was mad about. It was the fact that someone had stolen from him. Someone dared to come onto his turf, steal his property, and try to taint his reputation. It was disrespectful, to say the least. Why would he put up with it? Damn, his dad never would. So he wouldn't either.

One tap on his phone was all it took to summon two of his men, lifting the lifeless body off of the ground and swiftly removing it from the premises, afraid that they would end up in the same position if they didn't hurry. No one wanted to get on Yeosang's bad side. A pissed-off mob boss wasn't really the way they wanted to die.

But someone had to. Someone obviously felt it was their duty to piss Yeosang off, really grind on his nerves. Clearly, they thought that they could get away with it, too. Otherwise, why would they do it? Everyone in the city knew what happened to the others, mysteriously missing one day, never to return. Dead bodies showing up around the city with no evidence as to who did it, but every citizen knew. It was easy to put together the pieces when the entire city was run by one man's family.

So why would they do it?

Hey! Thanks for reading this chapter, I hope you enjoyed it. I've always wanted to start a mafia fiction, but it seemed too cliche. I got over that though, because it's such an addictive topic to write about. I don't know much about the mafia though, so there are probably a lot of inconsistencies within this. Please point them out if you find any! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter of Pure Pain, I hope you'll keep reading!
