Chapters Five and Six are now conjoined.
It was about a week after that when my magic did something weird. I was walking down the hallways, in the part of the base that's too rundown to use for much. Its quiet here, no one to glare at me or make rude comments. It's nice.
Tracing my hand across the wall as I walked, the vines wrapped around my hands brushed lightly against the wall as well, little buds of flowers blooming in my fingers wake. Light from the evening sun streams in through the multitude of cracks and holes in the ceiling, sand streaming down gently in some areas. All of a sudden, the vines on my hand leave my body, crawling along the wall, growing in length. They turn a nearby corner, and with a hefty amount of confusion, I follow. The vines continue to grow and writhe along the walls, leading me down seemingly endless hallways, until they grow through an open doorway.
Cautiously peeking in at the nearly furnitureless room, I notice someone. The long black hair on the top of their head with shaved sides tells me immediately that it's Andy. He's hunched over, clutching his head.
The vines crawl along the wall and on his boots, slowly making their way up his leg. I try to will them to stop but they don't listen. He stirs, looking down at the vines and then over at me.
"I'm, I'm sorry. I can't get them to stop." I say, walking closer, avoiding his gaze.
"It's... It's fine." He bites out, grimacing in pain after.
"Are you okay?" I ask, sitting next to him on the ground, but not close enough to be in his personal bubble.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine." He mutters, trying to put on a smile.
It hardly works. I frown, "Do you have a headache? Inna might be able to h-help."
"You could say that, and no, it's fine. No need to get Inna." He mutters, loud enough for me to hear easily but not going above a whisper.
Suddenly, he gasps loudly, eyes widening. I panic, not knowing what to do as his eyes glow a deep blue, and he falls forward.
I reach out to catch him, letting out a cut off shriek as our skin touches and my world goes dark.
There was a girl, covered in black paint. She wore dark clothing, a tank top and shorts with her black hair kept out of her face by a demon mask.
She was running, running, running. When she turned to look back to see if what was following her was still there, she tripped, falling to the baren, desert floor. A Shadow appears behind her and she turns around quickly, shuffling back on her bottom. The Shadow raises it's staff to strike, and in retaliation she raises a rosary of a strange star. The Shadow falters for a mere moment, before continuing it's attack.
I flinch, reaching forward to try and stop the Shadow, as the girl gets stabbed with the end of the staff. She goes limp, barely breathing, and the Shadow disappears with a whispered word.
"Eeeeve..."
Without my consent, my eyes trail up to rest on a really tall, blocky building in the far distance.
My eyes shoot open, falling to rest on Andy, who is passed out beside me on the floor. I check his pulse, finding him to still be alive, thankfully.
I need to get someone but I can't just leave him here. The vines curl around and around his legs and arms like they do my own and I have an idea.
