A World to Last

Chapter 2

Peace has been broken,war is about to begin...a war not started by humans

The thing was a ship...but not a normal ship,seeing it gave me goosebumps

"Radio in for backup,we can't do this with only one ship"I ordered

"Roger that"Tsugu responded on the communications pipe

"W-what was that?!"Rin panickingly asked

"It's a ship...not a human ship though"I answered

"What do you mean not a "human ship"?"Mashiro asked

"If this is the one that came out of the ocean,this isn't a human ship"I answered again

"The Musashi is the closest and will be here in 18 minutes"Tsugu reported

"Good,we'll have to try to hold on until backup arrives"I said

I wasn't even sure if we could survive for 18 minutes cause the Harekaze had a very low armor

"Rotate guns 90 degrees right,we can't let it go to civilian areas"I ordered

"Aye"Shima responded

"We'll use live rounds"I said

Shiro nodded and we grabbed our keys and unlocked live rounds

I looked at Shima,"Prepare for combat on the starboard side"

She nodded,"aye"

"Max gun elevation"I said

Shima nodded and told the gunner through the communications pipe,more cannon fire in the distance and impacts on our port and starboard side

"Enemy sighted,distance 2700 meters!!"our spotter yelled

"Decrease elevation 3 degrees"I said

"Aye"Shima responded

"Evasive manuevers...fire!!!"I yelled

Our shells missed by 59 meters on the enemy ship's port side but,we just kept firing.An explosion and the enemy slowed down a bit

"Impact on their stern"our spotter said

"Keep firing"I ordered

Since it slowed down we managed to hit it 4 or 5 times but it still kept going and eventually...they hit us too.The impact of the enemy shell rocked the ship

"We got a hole on our port side!!!"one of the crew yelled

"Damage assessment!!!"I yelled on the communication's pipe

"Engine room is flooding"someone said which I think was Maron

"Try to stop it,if that engine dies we're done for"I ordered

"Roger that"she responded

Now our ship has a hole,good thing nobody was hurt.The Musashi arrived and begun it's gun barrage,'cause of the good aim of the top students in that ship,they hit the enemy ship 2 times and it eventually sank

"We got a call from the Musashi"shiro said

I answered it,"hello?"

"You're buying me food when we get back"Elayne said,her voice seemed worried

"Seriously?...fine,and thanks for saving us"I said

"Why did you go in combat alone?...you're ship is just a destroyer,with low armor and firepower"she said angrily

"Look,we had no choice.Even if you're gonna back us up,you were gonna be here in 18 minutes,we couldn't sit and wait for that thing to sink us.I mean,they already fired at us"I explained
