A few years earlier
Aki POV
Today was the day I was finally going to make father proud of me.
As I pull father toward my room, I felt anxious but excited. I want to show him that I'm an artist. When we finally got to the door opened it, and father stepped in. I took out all my drawings and stood them up one by one. "Do you like them" I asked him as he stood there with a shocked expression. "H..How" Father's sudden stuttering made me fall silent. Why isn't he saying anything?
"How...disgraceful!" He yelled stealing the joy I felt away. "I thought you were studying the business books I gave you, but instead you were doodling garbage" Father took the drawings I displayed and ripped them. I could feel the tears form in my eyes as I stood helpless, all I could think about was her. "Don't worry he'll be proud of you" That's what she said but she was wrong. Suddenly he held a painting in his hands that breaks my train of thought.
"No, not that one" I said grabbing it and holding it close to my chest. "All of them have to go" Father said trying to get it from me, but I dodged his hand. "This is the painting of someone special to me" I yelled and tears start streaming down my face. My father laughed and put his hand on my shoulder. "It's the commoner girl, give up on her, you're marring from a wealthy family" He said.
"Mother, is a commoner too" I said. "Step-mother. It was an arranged marriage, that came about because my father wanted to make the little girls wish come true" Father said making me confused. What does that mean? "What wish?" I asked. "Lucy asked my father if he could give her a father at a Christmas charity event. He knew that I just had a divorce and thought you also need a mother. Lucy's mother agreed in exchange for money " Father said. He said snatching the paper from my hands. "Wait!" I yelled but that didn't stop him from ripping it in half.

When father left, I picked up the ripped pieces of my drawing and tried to put it together again. "Big brother I need to hide in your room" My sister said knocking on my door after father left. "I...I ...Its unlocked" I said wiping my tears and hiding the pieces under my pillow. I don't want Lucy to worry about me. She opened the door and locked it, then hid under the bed. "What did you do this time" I asked it wasn't the first time I had to get her out of trouble. "I kicked one of the twins legs and ran away. They didn't see me since I hid my face with a blanket, but the maid knew it was me". She said. I pulled Lucy from under the bed and patted her head. "You don't have to be mean to them all you had to do was say hello." I said sighing poor guy. "I heard his brother call him Karou when they were talking. So I picked Karou" She grinned obviously happy with her actions. "I heard our friend is coming to visit today, let's go see her when the twins leave. I know Lucy hates the arrange marriage idea, maybe one day I can convince father to change his mind.
Time skip
"Big sister you're here" Lucy said running up to the girl I liked. "I'll be right back I want to get cookies for us" Lucy said running off to the kitchen. "So what did your father say" the girl asked. I almost forgot what happen because of Lucy, but now all my grief was back. "He tore up some of my drawings and was angry with me. I knew he wouldn't be happy" I replied. "That doesn't mean you should give up" She said reaching out for my shoulder. I pushed her hand away and sighed. "Tell Lucy that I had to leave because father called me" I said running away.
Its been four days since I last talked to her and threw the pieces of the drawing out my window. That drawing father tore up was supposed to be a gift to her, for encouraging me. It doesn't matter anymore, father refused to talk to me yesterday and has gave me more things to study. "Big brother I want to show you something" Lucy whispers through the door. "What is it?" I asked opening the door.
"It's a surprise you have to follow me" She said taking my hand and dragging me down the halls. "We can go later I haven't finished studying" I said failing to pull away. "You can do that later" She said taking me outside and into the garden. "I'll be back in ten minutes "Lucy said running away. Why did she just leave me here? Was this just a trick to get me to go outside. "Don't blame your sister for doing this" I heard a voice say behind me. I didn't need to turn around to know who it was.
"Leave me alone" I said trying to leave but then she grabbed my arm. "I can't do that" She replied. "I believe that you can follow your dreams "She said letting go of me. "You don't know anything you're just a commoner, how can you understand" I yelled running away from her again. I heard her footsteps behind me getting closer. "Stop!" She yelled as we crossed the street. "No, stop pretending that you understand! " I stopped to face her.
"Just listen I want to show you something. She pulled out a piece of folded paper from her pocket. When I was about to grab it a loud horn beep in front of us. I froze as the car came towards me, that's when I felt my body being pushed away towards the sidewalk. When I lifted my head she was still in the street. "Y/N, wake up please!" I yelled as I tried to wake her up.
"I'll call an ambulance" the man who got out off the car said. I nodded and continued to hold her in my arms. Why did she do that? Next to her was the paper she was trying to give me. When I opened it I saw a familiar drawing, it was her. She taped it together and wrote something on the bottom. "Thank you"

After Y/N went to the hospital, she lost her memory of everything about Lucy and I. Every time she saw me she started crying and she couldn't understand why. I stopped visiting her and vowed to never bother her again. My relationship with Lucy wasn't the same anymore. I stopped opening the door for her, I ignored her when she tried to talk to me, and I started listening to my father more. My father was so proud of me, the son he always wanted. "Aki, your sister finally accepted the arranged married idea. She said that you influenced her to be more responsible." Father said laughing and patting my back.
"That's great father, please excuse me I have to go" I said leaving the room. It's been three months since I seen Lucy why is she suddenly changing her mind. She doesn't have to copy my example. I stood in front her door and knocked, but no one answered. "Excuse me you're blocking my door" Someone said pushing me away" Lucy said smiling at me. "I have to talk to you" I said. She walked past me and shut her door. "Can you bring my brother back?" She asked in a monotone voice. "What are you talking about I'm right here" I said confused. "Aki left me after the car crash and left me with you" She said as the door flew open.
"Where are you going?" I asked and she ignored me and continued walking. "If only I didn't leave him alone. I should have waited there with him. Maybe my brother would still be here." Lucy said tears streaming down her face. "But your brothers right here" I said. "You're not my brother!" She yelled. "Then who am I?" I asked and she stopped walking. "An imposter one without a name. I can give you one though, I'll call you... Shin" She said laughing to herself and leaving me behind. I wouldn't want to talk to someone who did what I did either. "At least answer one question" I said before she was out of sight.
"Just one I'm a busy person" She said glaring at me. "Are you really planning to marry one of the twins?" said looking at the floor. "Oh, you heard, I decided to accept my fate just like you have" She said walking closer to me. "You don't have to do this I'm sure father will reconsider if I try again" I said desperately trying to stop her. "What's wrong you wanted me to be nicer to them. I'm even planning to marry the boy I kicked." She said laughing and started leaving. Then she stops as if she forgot something. "Oh yeah, Y/N isn't with us anymore." She said then ran away.
Y/N is gone, and Lucy is unrecognizable. It's all because of my actions, but at least I might have a chance with Lucy. To fix my mistakes and still make my father proud of me. Y/N I'm sorry.
