Aedan woke up to a noise that sounded like someone was choking, in an instant he was up and out of his bed looking for the cause of the disturbance. Now fully awake he could identify the noise, it was his mother. She was leaning over the toilet throwing up whatever she ate last night. Aedan was already used to seeing her in this state because six out of seven nights his mother was so drunk that often she couldn’t keep her food inside of herself.  This always frustrates Aedan, he doesn’t understand why his mother is wasting her life by drinking so much that she doesn’t even remember anything. With nineteen years old he has started to get used to this everyday scenario.

And then of course there is Aedans dad, he doesn’t drink at all. His favourite occupation is to abuse his son, every night when his dad has to deal with his mother he tends to let out his anger on Aedan. Last night his father had returned from picking up his mother from some pub down the road where she had been drinking so much that she completely lost control of herself and had started to throw peoples drinks all around the room. Aedan’s father had returned and he could see the anger of him in his eyes so he decided to keep out of his fathers way, but even though he went into his room his father still decided to give him a quick beating with a wooden spoon from the kitchen before going to bed.

Looking in the mirror after helping his mother to her room Aedan could still see the marks of the spoon all over his chest and arms. The pain of these marks was nearly unbearable for Aedan, since he was six years old his father had beaten him nearly every night. Aedan has talked to his mother about this many times before she then always said that she would talk to her husband when he comes home from work, but until that time she was already too drunk to even think and couldn’t remember anything the next day. After this happened every time Aedan has talked about it to her, he just stopped. Once he had finished looking at the damage of his body Aedan decided to have a shower and after that get dressed for school. When he finally got himself ready he went down stairs to eat some cereal before heading out for school. Aedan never really minded school, he liked the fact that the teachers told him that one day he will get a perfect job. One that not only bring in a good amount of money but one that will really fit him and the way he is. He often thinks about his future, a future with no beating from others or drunk people.

But what would be the “perfect” job? And what does “perfect” stand for? Aedan realised at a very young age that every single person has faults, either in personality or looks sometimes even both.  Some one that’s “perfect” in Aedan’s mind would be a person that is kind, loving, caring and honest and also the person would be well build and stro…. Aedan’s daydream got interrupted by the school bell. It was time for his first class, Biology. This was one of Aedan’s favourite classes, he liked it when they dissected animals and he liked to cut of the parts of the animals body. Often his victims were frogs, Aedans teacher had often noticed him cutting the animals to pieces which isn’t part of the class and she once confronted him about it. She asked him why he decides to always cut the animal’s features of, Aedan told his teacher that it gives him a satisfying feeling. What his teacher found most extraordinary about this is that Aedan often only cut of one feature like a leg and then replace it with another frog’s leg, he told her that the original leg had a fault in it and that the frog now was more perfect with a better looking leg. The rest of the day went by pretty fast, after school Aedan headed back to his house. His mother was still asleep and his dad wasn’t home yet from work so Aedan decided to switch on the TV and have a lie down.
