We'd been doing it all day. We thought we'd gotten the hang of it, you know? Well, Anna and Reuel were convinced they were parkour masters. This happened at break, our lunch break. We always hung out on the stairs. Shannon was be her usual goofball self, Michaela was reading her fan-fiction, Marley and Holly would be nattering on in a corner, and Anna and Reuel would be dangling off the stairs. The stairs placed five stories up, or more I'm not quite sure.
But...today was different. The air was colder. The lights....dimmer. Anna went to do her usual trick, and with a dull "Pop" noise, every light bulbs in the area had blown. I fumbled for my phone, to turn on the light, but couldn't find it in my pockets. Damn coat. Out in the silence, there was a clang, a scream, and then a sickening crunch. I can't bare to describe the sound, I nearly vomited from the fright. I finally found my phone, and turned on my torch, trembling. Anna was gone. She'd fallen, and her mangled body lay at the floor no one could reach.
We were all in shock. I heard Marley muffling sobs, in all honesty we were all in tears. "What if shes still alive...?" Shannon questioned, although her tone was riddled with doubt. Hollie, not wanting to believe her friend had just plummeted to her death, ran as far down as she could, shining her torch light down to the basement layer. She retched for a moment, and ran back up sobbing, vomit stains on her hoodie. "Y-you have to see her- it-it's like something off a horror movie".
The rest of the group trudged down, our legs almost falling underneath us. When we reached the bottom steps, I shined my torch down and....."oh...god.." I muttered, a hand over my mouth. I'd expected a few breaks but this was...This was horrific. The bones in her legs were protruding from her knees, there were chunks of flesh strewn around, and worst of all- "HER HEAD" Shrieked Marley, who was being held back from climbing over the railing by Michaela. Anna's head had been torn clean off, terror in her eyes.
