Nobody else heard it. Nobody else saw the hastily scribbled note on the floor. Nobody saw as Marley climbed onto the window ledge, tears rolling down her cheeks. "MARLEY-". Before I could reach her, she leant forwards, disappearing from sight. How could I let it happen. Right after Anna...we needed to escape. And soon. I realized my scream had echoed, as my friends had yet again delved into silence.
"But- she was fine-" Reuel uttered, horrified. "Anna just DIED, nobody's 'FINE' REUEL" I snapped, "AND NOW WE'VE LOST MARLEY, BECAUSE YOU TWO WERE TOO FOCUSED ON WHO DID WHAT TO NOTICE OUR FRIEND LOSING GRIP ON REALITY".
I fell silent. I stumbled backwards, slumping against the wall. It was cold....calming. "I could have stopped her....why didn't I stop her...?"Shannon and Michaela sat with me, trying to get through to me by murmered comfort. Reuel closed and locked the window, sitiing down next to Holly, who seemed to be....calm. Most likely shock....horror....right?
