You're sitting there,
Perched on the end of my bed,
Eyes slowly shutting and war paint on on your cheeks,
One ear turned to the slurred words in the next room. The lights to my fairy lights are fading,
And it's time for me to sleep,
But with you and the noise here I feel so awake.
Are you hiding from him again? He comes to check on me,
And see if I'm asleep. I quieten and you huddle closer. The clock strikes ten, and the whirring never hushes.
You're watching my pencil move
And hear it's scratchings, and leap, as is it were prey. A silent beg for me to stop. The noise has stopped and so should I.
He still roams the halls.
The dim fairy lights are dimming,
And your preying should cease little one.See you at six, my sunshine.
