This is Ending 2 to the chapter right before this. The first 575 words are the same, but the ending is different.
"Why do you do that?" Eijiro asks, gesturing at the wedding ring Katsuki was now sliding off his finger and slipping into his pocket.
"I've told you, babe," Katsuki said like he got the question a million times a day. "If someone sees it, the media would make a big deal out of it and wonder who you are. And you wanted to stay out of the media."
"Yeah, but do you really have to take it off? Why don't you just wear, like, fingerless gloves or something? Fingerless gloves are badass."
Katsuki walked over to Eijiro, wrapping his arms around the taller man's neck and leaning in for a kiss. "I'll make it up to you tonight, okay?"
Eijiro's face brightened a little. "Okay!" Eijiro pecked Katsuki's lips and beamed at him. "I'm looking forward to you making it up to me though."
"Don't you always?" Katsuki kissed Eijiro's lips lightly one last time. "I have to go now, but I should be back in time to make dinner. If I'm not, there are leftovers in the fridge you can warm up. I love you, Ei."
"Love you too, Katsuki," Kirishima sighed, letting go of his husband. "Call me later?"
"I always do." Katsuki walked out of his house, hopping into the driver's seat of his car and starting it up. Immediately, he heard his own voice. One of his latest singles was playing on the radio. "Goddammit," he mumbled. He hated listening to his own music because his voice always sounded terrible, but Eijiro had bought every single one of his albums since he had begun releasing them when they were 19. Katsuki quickly changed the radio station now and turned around in his seat, watching behind him as he backed out of the driveway. On his car ride to the studio, he had to change the station 7 more times to keep from hearing his own voice from the car's speakers.
Once the car stopped in the back parking lot of his recording studio, Bakugou pulled out his phone and dialed Eijiro's number. He picked up on the 1st ring. "Someone's excited to hear from me," Katsuki said with a smirk Eijiro could hear through the line.
"No, I was just bored," Eijiro replied. It was half-true. Eijiro had been cleaning (which was boring) and he'd much rather talk to Katsuki (which was never boring).
"Sure, whatever you say, babe," Katsuki responded in a sarcastic but loving tone.
"Hey, we're almost out of milk. Should I run out to get some or do you wanna grab some on the way home?"
"You can grab it, but be careful, babe."
"I always am." Katsuki was always wary of when Eijiro went out alone because the paparazzi knew where Katsuki lived and sometimes stayed outside his house to see if they could get pictures of anyone else living in the house. It was on those days Eijiro and Katsuki had to be extra careful.
Like today. Eijiro peeked out the front window to see a news van sitting in front of their house. He groaned.
“Babe, I can just grab it on the way ho-”
“No,” Eijiro cut him off. “I’m done with being scared to leave my own god damn house. I’m gonna tell them.”
“You’re gonna what now?”
“I’m gonna tell them. I’m gonna tell the whole god damn world that we’re married.”
“You can’t do that.”
“Why?”
“Well, because, uh, because-”
“No, nevermind, I get it. Really, I should have been able to tell sooner.”
“What are you talking about Ei?”
“You’re ashamed of me. You don’t have to pretend anymore. I get it. I’ll be out of your hair by the time you get home.”
“No, Ei, that’s not-” but Katsuki was cut off by the beep of the call disconnecting.
Katsuki didn’t even bother calling Jiro before he began driving back. He figured she could wait a little longer, but Eijiro was the priority right now.
Katsuki began the drive, speeding where he could get away with it. Eijiro was the most important thing to him. He was at the forefront of Katsuki’s mind.
Once Katsuki got home, he was greeted with an onslaught of reporters and questions. He’s always had a fairly terrible relationship with the press, and right now he was a little preoccupied. So he simply yelled “Fuck off!” and pushed past them, running into his house.
“Eijiro! Are you still here!?” he yelled, running up the stairs, taking them 2 at a time until he reached the landing. He sprinted down the hallway to the shared bedroom at the end of it. He gasped, bending over and trying to catch his breath.
“Katsuki?” came an inquiring voice from the attached bathroom. Said man looked up, seeing the silhouette of his husband in the doorframe, the harsh fluorescents lighting him from behind.
“Eijiro, thank god you’re still here,” Katsuki breathed out.
“Yeah, I’m still here. Why are you here though?” Eijiro looked like he’d been crying, his face red and his eyes a little puffy.
“I needed to talk to you, but you hung up on me before I could.” Katsuki paused, perhaps waiting for an interjection that never came. “You’re wrong. I’m not ashamed of you. It’s really kind of the opposite. I love that I married you. Eijiro, I love you. That’ll never change.”
“Then why can’t I tell anybody?”
“Because,” Katsuki paused, thinking his words over. “I’m scared. I’ve always been scared of how you’d react to the stress of “being famous.” If we tell them, everyone will know by the end of today. You’ll have to deal with them the same way I do, and I know first hand how damn stressful that can be and I never wanted that for you, Ei. I care about you too damn much. But if you really want to, we can go out there and tell them.”
“So you don’t...” A pause. “You don’t hate being seen with me because I’m not famous?”
“Of course not, Ei. I don’t like being seen with you because then it causes problems for you getting pushed into the spotlight.”
“And you’re not…” Another pause. “You’re not ashamed of me?”
“No, I could never. You’re so much better than me, there’s no way I could be ashamed of you.”
“Do you…” Another pause. “Can we…” Another. “I wanna tell them. That we’re married, I mean.”
“Okay, we can do that. Right now might not be the best time because I probably look like shit, plus I just told the reporters outside to fuck off and leave me the fuck alone.”
Eijiro laughed, that really beautiful laugh that Katuski loved hearing. “Well, maybe later then. For now, how about we have lunch. It’s nearly noon.”
“You know my life motto though,” Katsuki replied with a smile, walking over to where Eijiro was standing. Katsuki kissed his husband, wrapping his arms around the taller man’s neck, standing on his tiptoes just a bit to reach. When they broke apart, Eijiro finished for him. “Eat dessert first.”
