When she saw the light fall across Harry's complexion , it was like seeing rays of the sun burst from him, he was so bright. Yes, sometimes he did grin at her and made her feel like her skin was burning a bright crimson colour. He would lick his plump pink lips and show his bright teeth in his smile, so warm that she would smile back automatically. He would crawl over the bed and lay beside her with his head resting upon her shoulder. His icy cool lips would press against her skin and he would just let her be there for him. He would let her pet his hair and run her fingers over his skin; over his face and jaw and neck. He would lay there and let her be a source of comfort to him. And it would be beautiful. Just as he was.
When Taylor-Jayne saw the light shine in his eyes, it was like seeing stars burning behind the sorrow. Yes, sometimes there was sadness in him, that choked him like iron hands around his throat. And she had never seen anything break the way he had when he leaned his head back upon her bed, the curls splaying out around his face. He looked so serene on the outside, she almost believed that he was okay. But when his eyes fluttered open to show that soft green hue she had fallen in love with, she knew that he wasn't. She could see the stars in Harry's eyes because he was looking at her, and she was his world. She could see a glimpse of his happy self, a sliver of what used to be. Before the sadness took him captive and locked him up. Before the sadness clawed at his throat and branched out in his lungs. Sometimes it looked like he was smiling with joy. She hoped it was true.
Sometimes she thought he would never be able to love her the way she loved him, because he was so damaged. She had only seen plates as cracked at he was. And still, he was bright. He was darkness and blackness and everything dim, but he was still bright. Maybe it was because he took center-stage in her world. In her mind. All she knew was that he was her sun, moon, and stars. He was all the planets and the millions of galaxies. And she could only hope that he loved her that way, too. When she would frown at his frown, he would reach out and cup her cheek. He would say that he would be okay, and there was no need for her to pity him. He would peck her lips, and even though the kiss was seemingly small, it was bright. Just like he was.
So yes, sometimes she thought the worst. But he was bright, even during the dark times. Harry would say, "Love is eternal" when Tj was feeling the emptiness of his touch. And that was the thing, they were eternal. She would stay with him, forever, she knew that for a fact. Through the good and through the bad. Because he needed her there. He needed her to shine in his life, for her to be the bright one. For her to be the light casting through his clouds. He would silence her when she cried, brushing away her salty tears.
"I will be okay. We will be okay, I promise."
Tj had to remember that so the brightness would not fade. She had to remember. It would all be okay. And that the sunshine would stay, because without you he was not the carefree, dimpled grinned boy and without him you we're not complete. You fit together like puzzle pieces, never to be undone.
