TWO YEARS LATER
IRL - Dacre's POV
"Do you still think about her, D?" Izzy questioned. We'd gotten in a fight about my scheduling and me not spending enough time with her, and somehow it turned into her talking about Ava.
"Iz, why are we talking about this again?" I groaned.
"Because the two of you are photographed together constantly and you spend more time with her than you do with me, maybe?" she said.
"We're photographed together because we're co-stars on a project along with her husband," I sighed, "I've told you this countless times. She's married and is madly in love with Harry! Why can't you move on from that? I have."
"Have you really though, Dacre?" she spat.
"Yes! I wouldn't be with you if I wasn't," I said, trying to keep my cool in the whole situation, "I wouldn't be telling you I love you and leading you on if I still had feelings for her. You know, it kind of hurts that you don't trust me and that you think I'd do that to you."
"Yeah, well it hurts knowing that your boyfriend is lying to you too," she said, tossing a few papers at me. I didn't realize what it was until I started reading. It was basically a transcript of a conversation Joe and I had had a few weeks prior to the moment.
"Iz, where did you get this?" I asked, "Did you go through my messages?"
"That's what you're focused on right now?" she questioned.
"Yes Iz, why would you go through my things?" I asked, "I thought we had more trust than that. Did you even read the context of this conversation? I don't think you did." She stayed silent. "I think we're done," I said quietly.
"Wait, Dacre, no," she said, "That's not what I wanted from this conversation."
"I don't even want to know what you expected, Iz, but this is what you got," I turned to walk away, "I'll see you around. I'm going home." I heard her calling after me but I couldn't bring myself to look back.
AVA'S POV
"Babe, have you seen my black shoes?" Harry yelled from our bedroom.
"No, but have you checked under the bed?"
"Ah, you're a goddess," he yelled, I could hear his footsteps getting closer to me, "How is it that you always know everything?"
"It's a gift," I giggled, patting the spot next to me for him to sit down, "I saw this article written by a fan that made me laugh a whole bunch." He smiled as I turned the computer screen towards him.
"Dacre and Harry, is the bromance going too far?" he read aloud, "We've gotten hints here than there that Ava, Harry AND Dacre, the ultimate love triangle, are working on a project together but nothing has been fully confirmed." He stared at the screen for a minute before looking up at me. "'The ultimate love triangle,'" he quoted, "I don't like that." I frowned and looked at him. "Are people ever going to let that go?"
"That went straight over my head, I didn't realize it'd bug you, I'm sorry," I frowned. He frowned back and sighed.
"No, I'm sorry. I can't believe I'm doing this," he muttered, "I don't think we can keep doing this, Ava."
"Doing what, babe?" I asked, there was a pit in my stomach sparked by his tone.
"The project with Dacre," he said, "I know it shouldn't and that we're married, but it's messing with my head. You guys are so close and you're always laughing together and it's getting to me."
"Let me get this straight, H. You want us to pull out of the project with D because you're a little jealous?" I asked in disbelief.
"When you put it like that it sounds a bit-," I cut him off.
"Unreasonable? Yeah, that's exactly what I thought too," I said.
"I don't know what you want me to say about it, Ava. That's how I feel and I know we're good together and that we're married, but I don't know what to do," he said, "I don't know why it keeps bugging me or why your friendship bothers me, but it does."
"I'm sorry you feel that way," I said, "I don't know what to do about it either. I don't know how many times I have to tell you you don't need to worry before you actually believe me."
"I don't know that I ever will fully," he frowned.
"Have I ever done anything to make you not believe that I love you, Harry?" I questioned, trying to hold back tears.
"Aves, you left me to be with him before we started dating, and I saw you guys together once you patched things up... It hurt me a lot," he said, "Seeing you guys together again hurts."
"Harry, I'm married to you," I sobbed, "I think I've proved my love for you many times, at the beginning of our relationship, when we got married, in more recent years. I don't know what you want me to do."
"I think we should go to counseling," he muttered.
So this is the "ending" of this one... bet you didn't see that one coming. This whole chapter was a set up for the sequel that is coming soon! I know I say this took me way too long to finish, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to let this story end with her ending up with Harold or if I wanted to explore other possibilities with the character. I ultimately decided that I wasn't ready to let go of the characters just yet or that this was the end of their story.
The sequel will be up at some point in the near future. It'll be called Back to You and I'm VERY excited about it. Be on the lookout though I'll probably post something on here once it comes out. For now, the preface/characters are out 💕
