Aksha stopped running after a while. She panted, looking behind her. No sign of them. Good. She continued on her way, now walking at a leisurely pace as she took in all the exiting scents and smells. There were so many! That was until her ears perked to the sound of flies, a familiar smell filling her nostrils. Should she investigate? Of course. Head low, she slowly crawled to the source of the scent. Her eyes widened as she spotted it.
There, in front of her, lay an entire elk, covered in blood. Aksha could hardly contain her excitement. She bounded over, scaring the crows. This is so cool! As she circled the carcass, she realised it looked new, as if it had only just been slaughtered. This must have been what Mother killed! It was obvious that it's neck had been broken by a wolf. Stepping over the leg, she dug in to the carcass.
A growl sounded behind her. Aksha spun around, maw stained scarlet.
"That was my pack's kill." A massive brute stood above her, 2 wolves standing beside his flanks. "How dare you steal what is rightfully mine." Aksha cowered beneath him, scared.
"Ruax... dearest Alpha.... It's a pup. Surely we shouldn't hurt it?" Voiced the wolf to the left. Ruax's head swung around.
"Shut it, Dusty! The pup did the wrong thing. It needs to be taught a lesson."
"Y-yes, Alpha." Aksha had to find a way out, before she got attacked. She looked around. She was trapped.
"Oi! Look at me." The brute barked. Aksha froze, before looking at the russet wolf. He wore a malicious grin on his face. "You've got two options. Come with me, or get ripped to shreds." The pup stuttered. Her voice shook.
"Do I have to?"
"Yes!" Ruax barked, looking at the desperate pup as she searched for an exit. Surely there was a gap between the wolves and the carcass? Ruax noticed her looking. "Surround her."Dusty and the other wolf began to make their way to the side of Aksha. The crept in unison, growling. Well at least, Aksha thought they were the ones growling. She was wrong.
The bushes rustled, and out charged Aksha's family, snarling. Ruax's Pack were confused, hesitating. They took advantage of that. Relic slammed into Ruax's flank, his canines meeting the russet fur of the brute. Aksha could only watch on in horror as the two battled. Eventually the fight resulted in Relic getting pinned by the bigger male. "Thought you could defeat me?" He boomed, hackles raised. Aksha looked around. Where was her family? Her mother was fighting Dusty, and her Father was brawling with the opposing female. They were all too busy. She knew what she had to do. Racing up to Ruax, she jumped, latching onto his tail. The brute whimpered with surprise, turning around. Relic made his way out from under the wolf, before latching onto his left haunch, jerking his head as he tore at the flesh. Blood began to ooze from the wound as Ruax twisted to aim a bite at Relic, but his efforts were to no avail. Sure, he was an overly big wolf, but his agility was non existent. Relic has just discovered this, and used it to his advantage. Relic loosened his grip on the wolf's haunch, and went for his exposed neck. His jaw strength was exceptional, and he clamped his jaws on Ruax's trachea. Aksha watched the sire struggle, unsure of what to do. She was a pup, she couldn't do much damage at all. She didn't really need to. Relic had released his grip. Ruax lay on the forest floor, body jerking before going limp.
