"Want to go take a walk on the lake? We still have an hour before lunch," I suggested, taking his hand ready to walk out. He didn't make a move to follow me though.
"Actually, I brought you in here to show you something. I need your help," he said. I didn't answer for a moment, he almost looked worried again, but I wasn't quite sure.
"Sure, what is it?" Once again, he didn't answer, just steered me farther into the room, taking turns when he needed. I hoped he was familiar with the place, either it would take a while to find our way out later.
We walked for a couple minutes before he stopped abruptly. He let go of my hand, walking up to a tall object with a worn out blanket draping over it. Swiftly, he pulled it off. Behind it was an old cabinet. I stared at it curiously - why is he showing me it?
"It's a vanishing cabinet," he explained I looked at him with wonder, I remember seeing it in a book one time while researching something for Harry a few years ago.
"How did you find it?" I asked. I walked up to it, running my fingers along it hesitantly. I was afraid if I pressed down too hard, it would splinter. Cracked ran through it, thick enough that if light were in there your could see inside. With my curious wondering, I almost didn't notice Draco's hesitance to answer my question. I looked at him expectantly, as he gazed around. Finally he looked at me with a shrug.
"Just found it one day. Heard some Ravenclaws talking about this room one day and decided to try and find it for something to do. Found this and realized it was broken, so thought I could fix it to- you know- get my mind off of things."
I smiled at him, glad he found something interesting he enjoyed. I turned back towards it, inspecting it more closely. "Cool, I could help if you want. You know, read the books and tell you what I found."
"Sure..."
