"How do you think Marcus will prompose?" Sofia asks excitedly, not even paying attention to her own boyfriend out on the field.

I shrug and keep my eyes focused on the boy himself in the center prepared for the whistle to blow. "I don't know. Besides, prom is nearly a month away. Who would go around promposing right now?"

"We already picked out our dresses," she points out.

"Yeah but that's because number one, we plan in advance, and number two, we needed to get alterations done to it which can take a while at the store. I don't think any boy is going to be making posters any time soon."

"I'm just so excited. This will be the first time Jon and I go to prom together," she says with a giddy smile.

I try hard to not judge her, but it's hard. Throughout high school Sofia and Jon have broken up so many times and for amounts of time that she has gone to three proms. Her freshman year with Ben Young, her sophomore year with Emmett Perry and last year she went with Jake.

Let's just see if they get to that point.

"I know. It'll be great," I add.

I turn my attention back to the field where the game has stopped yet again. I wrap my cardigan tighter around me. Even though it was nice out just a week ago, New England weather is so bipolar it's not eve funny. The chill in the air is enough to make me want to go get the blanket in my car.

"Did you hear about Lexi's pregnancy scare?" she whispers, making sure the moms and dads around us can't hear what we're talking about. Also with Lexi and Skylar just two bleacher rows in front of us them hearing what we're saying is that last thing I want.

"Yeah but I don't think she ever got pregnant. Didn't she just take Plan B?" I ask, not knowing the entire story.

"No. Brooke and Vanessa told me that she was around three weeks into the pregnancy and she had to get an abortion done and everything," she tells me.

"How did her parents not know about this?" Mr. and Mrs. Kane must have been with her when she went to go get the abortion, or at least have some clue as to what was going on.

"Brooke said the last time Lexi went to go get a physical she didn't give her parents access to that sort of medical information. As far as they know her parents are clueless."

I'm shocked her parents don't know any of this. From all the talk that's been going around about it, I'm sure they'll find out at some point. I just don't know how they'll react to the rumors. After all that's what they are, who knows if Devon really knocked her up.

"Why didn't she just take the day after pill?" I figure she and Devon use condoms. She's never talked about any sort of birth control, and the only way for her to not get pregant was for Devon to wrap it up.

Sofia shakes her head. "She thought she was protected by her birth control. She's only had it for about a month, so I'm guessing it wasn't 100% by that time."

"Has Devon said anything about this?" Surely people would have come after him asking for more details.

"I heard it wasn't even Devon that knocked her up," she whispers.

My eyes widen in shock. What the fuck? This is news to me.

"Who was it then? I thought she and Devon had a thing," I say.

"Apparently it's some guy from another town. They met at Nick's party and I guess got it on pretty quickly."

"Oh my God," I gasp.

"I know. I could never imagine how scary it must feel to find out you're pregnant at 18. I'm always so paranoid about the condom breaking, seriously. I will squeeze the thing over the sink to make sure there aren't any holes in it," she rambles making me want to choke.

"Oh God good to know Sof."

"Hey, just trying to give you solid advice for when you finally let Marcus between your legs," she chuckles as I glare at her. Yeah, this is why I didn't talk to her about losing my virginity. This kind of talk is really not helping.

All of a sudden there is a ton of comotion on the field. One of the boys from the other team is donw on the ground screaming in agony. I wish I had been paying attention, but I had no idea what was going on anymore.

All I can see is the boy writhing on the ground holding his knee for dear life. All the coaches and come onto the field and the adults all herd the kids to the sidelines to clear the field of anymore chaos.

Who I presume is to be the boy's mom comes running down the left bleacher side onto the turf.

"What happened?" Sofia asks the couple in front of us.

"We're not sure. One second he was running against the defense, and the next he's on the ground holding his leg," the lady informs us.

"I hope he's alright," I say to myself.

Almost a half hour later the ambulance shows up and carts him off to the nearest hospital. I couldn't believe, along with a few people around me, that it took the paramedics and everyone nearly a half hour to show. You would think with a serious injury taking place they would have sped along a little more quickly.

With everyone back on the field, the last two minutes of the game are played before the boys win. But the win isn't as celebratory as the others, mainly due to what had happened just before the win.

It had gotten around in those five minutes that the boy had severely messed up his knee. No one knows the exact details yet, but from what the parents have been tossing around, some say the ACL, some say a part of the bone had snapped off.

I wait with Sofia for Marcus and Jon to finish with the team meeting. Only after a short ten minutes they come out to the parking lot all sweaty and smelly.

Sofia and Jon immediately move away to their car to be alone, and Marcus and I do the same.

Walking up to his truck he has my hand in his and has tugged me closer to his side, and although he may smell disgusting right now, I don't really care. Being next to him does all kinds of things to my body, good fuzzy feelings. I can deal with the B.O for a little.

"You played good today," I comment, even though I'm still not sure how lacrosse is played.

"Thanks," he replies, amused. He knows my lack of knowledge when it comes to this sport.

"We're still on for tomorrow, right?" I ask. Tomorrow is the night I make my move. The move I hope he doesn't reject.

"Of course."

He brings me into his arms, and after quickly looking around he kisses me up against his truck. Even though it's quick, it has the same effect on me as a heavy make out does.

"See you then," I reply breathlessly.

Giving him one last peck I walk back to my own car. Once I'm in the seat I lean my head back against the headrest and let out an exhale, already nervous about for what I'm going to do tomorrow when he comes over.
