Prologue
The evening moon light casting eerie shadows across the sharp cliffs over looking the churning sea below. A pair of teenage boys are walking down the steep crumbling pathway along the side of the cliff, the beams of their flashlights dancing across the rocky terrain.
Careful not to slip on the wet rock, the trip is slow and tedious. Mike the boy following his friend says, "Man, did we have to do this now. Why couldn't we do this during broad daylight?"
Derek turns to his friend, the pirate map grasped solidly in his hand, his flashlight shining in Mike's face temporarily blinding him as he says, "Oh quit belly aching. You heard about the pirate ship wreck being discovered a few miles from the coast. It would be only a matter of time before someone will make a connection with this old map that my grandfather had found many years ago."
His foot slipping on a wet stone, sending his heart racing as his hand scramble to grab onto the rock ledge before he falls. Mike grabs Derek's jacket helping his friend up. Derek looks over the edge that he almost fell over and says, "Umm...besides dead pirates will not be needing the gold anyway."
Mike looks at his friend, knowing that he would not abandon him, points his flashlight down the path gesturing for his friend to continue as he says, "You first. I just do not plan to join them."
