Have you ever seen the stars in the sky? I think you have. Have you heard the birds chirp? I think so. But have you ever watched a blind girl sing and play a guitar before? I bet you haven't or maybe you have... That's me,
Priscila Cortéz. I've been blind since I was 11 years old. It was hard for me to realize that I woudn't be able to play the guitar as easy as it was before, but I keep trying until I got it. I know that behind all my disabilities, I had a true talent. Not just by playing the guitar and singing while being blind, but because I have perseverance. In church I've learned that God is our strength, and that encouraged me to give more and more of me. I can do it all things in Christ that strengtheneth me. Sometimes I rest on my bed and watch the roof, but then I realize I'm on the living room because I can't recognize perfectly the places. I don't know from where I was, I don't know from where I'm from, but I know where I go. The way I feel the things now, isn't the same as I saw them before. Blindness could make you less agile, but not less important or talented. My dream has always been to be in front of a public, with my guitar, playing music for everyone. Show the people how I am, that I'm not useless! But this is El Salvador. There are not many chances of entering a singing contest and win it, and that's why I'm fighting! That no matter what happens I'll fight for my goal. Yeah, that's Priscila Cortéz.
