Entry #1
We have been assigned our roommates for the semester. I can move out next term and find an apartment all for myself. So far my new "roomie" doesn't seem to bad. His name is Chad Hanover, he didn't have much luggage. He put up a poster of some football team. He chose the left side of the room.
Unpacking proved tedious with the little space we were given. The majority of my clothing sits in my suitcase at the end of my bed. If you could call it a bed really, it was more like a gym mat with a sheet over it.
Chad and I had a lovely conversation about our majors. Apparently Chad is here on a football scholarship and doesn't currently have a defined major. We have very little in common. I saw him giving confused glances at Hello Dolly poster.
Chad complimented me for entering the field of biology, in his words "Science is fucking difficult".
The people across the hall are named Greg and Steve. They introduced themselves after they finished backing. Greg is a English major and Steven is also on a football scholarship. Apparently this dorm just attracts athletes. Despite our very differing interests I do think I could make friends of this group.Entry #4
Chad believes this to be a diary. I told him that this was merely a record of the events that happen to me. He insisted further that this is a diary. "No judgment, Henry. I'm just pointing out that that is a diary."
Despite his faults I do think that we are becoming friends. Greg and Steven from across the hall came over to our room to play cards. Chad has very fast reflexes so I have yet to win a round. I'm sure if we were to play again I would win.
I met a guy named Stu in my Anatomy course. We are working on an assignment together. He was sitting closest to me and neither of us know anyone else in that particular. Stu so far seems like someone I can get along with.
Mom sent a note with the standard "we miss you back home" message. The letter enclosed 50 dollars this will be spent of food.
On the topic of money, I am applying for a part time job at a near by public library. Greg works there and says that the work isn't hard to manage.Entry #7
Chad brought me along to a party. He wants me to Borden my social horizons so he dragged me out of the dorm and into a near by fraternity house. I asked Chad why he hadn't joined a fraternity and he said "I've always found them sketchy but they throw killer parties."
Stu, Steven, and Greg were also at this "frat" party so following Chad around wasn't necessary. Steven offered me some beer. I accepted to not be impolite but I hardly touched it. Greg and I conversed about the local going ons of the library and the abundance of middle aged drama. Stu mentioned that he too has an interest in the theatrical arts.
We traveled to the dorms as a group. We went to Stu's room where he introduced us to Mark his dorm-mate. He was drawing something when we entered the room. He was rather soft spoken.
When the rest of us got back to our rooms on the floor above Stu's, we relaxed in me and Chad's dorm. Chad lay a drunken mess on his bed Steven inquired about my Guys and Dolls poster. I told him about my interests in theatre. Greg said that I would have to show him "some theatre shit".
Chad said something peculiar once Greg and Steven had left. He had stayed relatively quiet before. "Why are you so serious all the time man? Follow your dreams." This had no particular basis in the current situation so I don't quite know what to make of it. I have only known Chad and the others for a little over a week.
