There are three things I know about Jenna.

Well, there are three things I thought I knew about Jenna. Now I realize that everything I may have known about her is probably a lie, but anyway, here are three things I was definitely sure of before, well, this.

Jenna is a dork

Jenna is my best friend

I am absolutely in love with Jenna.

But about three minutes ago I spotted Jenna walking with some weird, long-haired pretty boy at the end of the street where my favorite boba place is. I called out "Hey!" and she didn't hear me, so I ran to catch up with her. She turned into an alley and I turned into it a few seconds after her. And then I hid behind the corner before they could see me. In fact, I barely got a glance at them before I slammed my back into the wall, out of sight.

But I know what I saw.

Jenna was talking with the boy. And there were giant wings. Giant WINGS. Giant wings sprouting from her back.

As I held my breath, hoping they hadn't noticed me, I heard the following exchange.

"Are you really sure it's okay to talk out here, you know, like this in plain sight?" Jenna asked.

"Yes. There's no reason anyone would come into this alley," the pretty boy said, "And anyway, we've got cloaking?"

"Ooooh, Madame Corinne finally agreed to teach you the spell?"

"Yes," the pretty boy said, sounding proud, "But that's not what we got together to discuss. How are they holding up after the battle? It's only been a week since Nurse declared you flight-ready, correct?"

"A week and a half, to be fair," Jenna said, "And yeah, there fine. Only like two scars, and they're really small. They don't hurt at all anymore."

Battle? Scars?

"What?"

Oh crap.

I had said that aloud.

"Who's there?" I heard the pretty boy yell out.

"Drop your weapons!" I heard, and there was a sword to my neck.

The sword clattered to the floor.

"Natalie?" Jenna asked, "What the HELL are you doing here?"
