7:14...great I'm going to be late. I slowly made my way to the bathroom and washed my face looking into the mirror at my droopy hazel eyes. Man, I look beat. I raided my closet for something socially acceptable to wear on my first day, and found a floral shirt with sleeves that flair out at the ends, tucked into a button up corduroy skirt paired with some sandals. I braided my brown hair into a messy side plat that showed off my natural highlights and began putting on all of my rings and earrings.
It was now 7:45 and since I had some time to spare I quickly put on a little makeup and headed out the door to grab some coffee. I pulled into my favorite local coffee shop and rushed in to tell her my usual. While sitting at a small table towards register, I heard the bell ding and looked over to see a tall woman dressed in a silky maroon blouse paired with a black pencil skirt that ended just above her knees and a pair of pointed stilettos. She had shoulder length black hair that curled towards the ends and elegantly framed her face.
Suddenly, she looked up at me as if she could sense my staring and gave me a half smile. My heart skipped a beat and I almost said something when suddenly- "Ava!!!", my coffee was ready. I jumped up, startled by hearing my name, and quickly grabbed my things. As I walked out, it almost felt like someone was watching me, but I continued on, silently getting into my used Honda Pilot suv and floored the gas all the way to school.
Crap. I knocked on my first period door (calculus) five minutes late and hoped for the best. The door was answered by none other than the beautiful woman from the coffee shop who's eyes widened with surprise upon seeing me again. Less than a second later she regained her dominant posture and simply said "You're late. Do that again and you have yourself a detention." She raised an eyebrow at me and left the door open as she turned and resumed teaching.
I looked around her classroom for an empty chair but there was only one...shit looks like I'm stuck sitting by her desk the rest of the year. She began passing out notes and when handed mine, she bent over my desk and said "See me after class". I should've been scared or nervous but I wasn't, she was hot and any chance I got to talk with her one-on-one was an opportunity I wasn't willing to pass up. The bell rang for our diss missal to second, and I stayed behind waiting for everyone to leave her room.
She finally stood and the clicking of her heels got closer until she was towering above me. "I would ask you why you were late but I think I already know." She glared her black orbs into mine intensely and continued on. "So here's the deal, if you're late to my class again there will be after school detention in your future. I do not tolerate students who can't show up on time so don't make it a habit." She waited a second to see if I would respond, then raised an eyebrow and walked back behind her desk.
"Aren't you going to write me a pass?" I asked unsure of whether or not I was actually in trouble.
"Why would I do that? You're not going to be late."
"I have to make it all the way across campus in-", I checked my phone, "2 minutes, that's literally impossible." I said over-dramatically.
Her lips curled as she looked me up and down and said, "Relax, you're in shape...it's good cardio" and proceeded to give me an evil smirk. Damn she was hot.
"What do I call you again? Miss?-" I asked, trying not to offend her. I'd been so dazed out in class I'd missed nearly everything that was said.
"Mrs Mills." She replied, glaring at me with her pitch black eyes. I gazed back and saw the corner of her lips slightly bend into a smile, but I walked out and pretended not to notice.
As I left I could feel her eyes on me once again, but I began sprinting to science. At lunch, I sat down with my food and nearly almost had a heart attack upon seeing Miss Mills walking in my direction. As she got closer my palms started to sweat and my mind frantically raced over everything we said...I didn't have detention today, and my work wasn't due yet, so why was she over here?
I smiled as she finally reached my table and made a...less than amused face and simply asked "Can I borrow a chair?" She looked hella annoyed and I'm assuming that's because she was on duty today. I wanted to have a little fun with the situation so instead, I responded with, "No actually, that seat's taken." Her eyes widened with shock and I let out an amused laugh. "Sure" I said, happy that I'd thrown her off her game for a second.
While walking over to where she had duty, I couldn't help but stare at her in that pencil skirt. I felt terrible, don't get me wrong, but she had legs for days. How does God even make someone that perfect?
"AVA"
I jumped at hearing my name and was snapped out of my daydreaming session. "What Ryan?" Ryan has been my best friend since kindergarten...we go way back. In high school, he's kind of my only friend, so we're closer than ever.
"Man you're dazed out today, what's up?" He asked trying to get me to open up.
"Nothing, I was just a little late to calculus this morning..."
"Hey, have you met that calculus teacher yet? The new one? The guys on the baseball team have said she's a complete bitch."
"Ummm...what's her name?" I asked trying not to sound too interested.
"Mrs. Mills, supposedly she moved here after losing her son and now she's the worst teacher you could possibly have."
"Huh. Never heard of her." I said, thinking hard about what he just said and eating spoonful of mashed potatoes.
Lunch went on as usual and Ryan couldn't stop cracking jokes so I was literally crying tears of laughter when I looked up to see Mrs. Mills staring at us. She looked zoned and then when I looked at her for long enough she returned my gaze and gave me a short glance, then went back to whatever she'd been doing before.
