- what a Treacherous thing to Believe that a person Is more than A person.
- At Some point, you Gotta stop looking up at The sky, or One of these days you'll look back Down and see That you floated Away, too.
- I Leave, and The leaving is so Exhilarating i know I can never Go back. but then What? Do i just keep leaving Places, and leaving Them, and Leaving them, tramping A perpetual Journey?
- i Spy with my Little eye A great Story.
- She Was not an adventure. she Was not A fine and precious Thing. She was a Girl.
- i know It's impossible For you To see your peers this way, But when You're older, you start To see them-- The bad kids and the good Kids and All kids-- as people. They're just People, who Deserve to Be cared for.
- The Thing is that i do believe In college, and Jobs, and Maybe even babies One day. i believe In the future. Maybe it's A character Flaw, but for me It is a Congenital one.
- that's Always seemed so Ridiculous to me, That people want To be around Someone because They're pretty. it's like Picking your breakfeast Cereals based on color instead of Taste.
- if you Don't imagine, nothing Ever happens at All.
- Talking To A drunk person Was like talking to an Extremely happy, severely Brain-damaged three-Year-old.
- Here's what's Not beautiful about it: From here, you can't see The rust Or the cracked paint or Whatever, but You can tell What The place really is. you See how fake it all Is. It's Not even hard Enough to be made out of Plastic. it's a Paper Town. I Mean look At it, Q: Look at All those cul-De-sacs, those Streets that turn In On themselves, All the houses That were built to Fall Apart. all Those paper People living in their Paper houses, Burning the future to stay Warm. all the Paper Kids drinking beer Some bum bought for them At the paper Convenience store. Everyone Demented with the Mania of owning things. All The things Paper-thin and paper-Frail. And All the people, Too. i've lived Here for Eighteen years And I have never Once in my life Come across anyone Who cares about Anything that Matters.
- it is easy To forget how Full the world is of People, full to Bursting, And each of them imaginable and Consistently misimagined.
- I'm in Love with Cities i've never Been to and People I've never Met.
- as much As life Can suck, it Always beats The alternative.
- I Started to Realize that people lack Good mirrors. it's So hard for Anyone to show us how We look, & so Hard for us to Show anyone how we Feel.
- peeing is Like a good Book in that it Is very, Very Hard to stop once You start.
- a Paper Town for A paper Girl.
- margo Always loved mysteries. And In everything that Came afterward, i Could never stop thinking That maybe she loved Mysteries So much that she Became one.
- the way I Figure it, everyone Gets a miracle. Like, i will Probably never be struck by lightening, Or win a nobel Prize, or Become the dictator of A small nation in The Pacific islands, or contract Terminal ear cancer, Or spontaneously combust. But If you consider all The unlikely things Together, at least One of them will probably Happen to each of us.
- in My memory, it doesn't End. we just Stay there, Looking at each other, Forever.
- The rules of Capitalization are So unfair to Words in the middle.
- high School is neither A democracy nor a Dictatorship - nor, Contrary to popular belief, An anarchic state. High School is A divine-Right monarchy. and When the Queen goes on vacation, things Change.
- It is So hard to leave—until You leave. and Then it is the easiest Goddamned thing in the World.
- The town was Paper, but the Memories were Not.
