"Explain to our child, the pain and embarrassment, you put her mother through!"
"When will you learn, that she is your legacy? We are your legacy! If you thought you were mine..."
"Don't!" Veronica's mother shouted at her father. Veronica cowered in fear, scared. She was only 13, poor child.
A firm slap landed on her mother's face. Her parents were unaware that she was there, and she began sobbing. Her father looked in her direction, very angry.
"Get out." He said very calmly to Veronica. She didn't dare move. "NOW!" He boomed. Veronica ran out into the cold, winter night without a jacket and only pajama shorts and a shirt on. She ran as fast as her short legs could carry her.
She made it to her boyfriend's house, and she pounded on the door. His mother answered and saw Veronica's sad face.
"Dear, are you okay?"
"Please, I just need to see JD..please.."
"I'm sorry, Ronnie, but he's not home."
"Oh, okay. Thank you."
His mother shut the door and she sprinted out of that direction, assuming he's at the 7/11.
She ran, she ran as far as she could, she ran until her legs were in immense pain.
But she kept running. She made it to the 7/11, darkness close to covering her already blurry vision. She was panting and gasping for air. She burst inside and JD was over by the slushy machines, on his phone.
He looked over in her direction, and his amused face quickly turned into a concerned one. He shut off his phone, and jogged over to Veronica.
"Princess, what's wrong?" He fussed over her, and hugged her shivering body.
"My parents.. fight.. slap.. screamed at.. I can't breathe.. I'm gonna pass out.." She breathed, and then passed out. JD went into a panic and rushed out the door with the girl in his arms.
He walked back to his house, and opened the door to be greeted by his mother.
"Jason, what happened to her?"
"Okay, so I came to a conclusion of to what happened. Her parents got in fight, someone got slapped, and she got screamed at, she ran here and then to the 7/11, and then passed out in my arms." JD quickly explained, panic not hiding in his voice.
"Well you can bring her up to your room. Stay with her for the night." She instructed. He nodded and went up to his room, placing her in his bed.
"Darling, princess.. Wake up please." He whispered, caressing her cheek. Her eyes fluttered open and she looked around, hugging the fluffy blanket on his bed tight.
"My legs hurt.. oh.. JD.. I'm cold.." She whined. JD slightly smiled and kissed her cheek.
"You're not going home. I'll call your mother, because she's most likely very worried. I'll explain where you are and why you're staying here. Okay?" He purred, sitting next to her. She nodded.
"You're really the best boyfriend I've had.. the first one, anyways." She whispered, snuggling up to him. He blushed and wrapped an arm around her, feeling that she was still slightly shivering.
"Awww.." He cooed, holding her close. She laid down with her head on his lap, looking up at him, smiling.
He returned that smile. He moved hair out of her gorgeous brown eyes. She closed her eyes again, as his fingertips danced along her cheek.
Her breathing came to a regular pace, she had fallen asleep. JD moved her head off his lap and covered her up with the duvet, and got in beside her.
"Goodnight, please sleep well." He whispered before kissing her cheek, and falling asleep himself.
