"Heather," Jason smiled, the fear and panic hiding in his eyes. Heather smiled, cocking her head.

"Jason," Her smiled turned to a frown. "Congratulations."

"You have invented a new kind of stupid." She twirled her curled hair around her finger. "A 'damage you can never undo' kind of stupid." Averting her eyes back to him, she smiled sadly.

"An 'open all the cages in the zoo' kind of stupid." She slapped her hand down on her dress, glaring at him. The fear and panic was released. "'Truly, you didn't think this through?' kind of stupid."

"Let's review." She held up her hand. "You took a rumor a few maybe two people knew and refuted it."

"By sharing an affair of which no one has accused you." She wagged a finger. "I begged you to take a break, you refused to!"

"So scared of what your enemies will do to you," She sighed. "You're the only enemy you ever seem to lose to."

"You know why Jefferson can do what he wants?" Her sad smile faded. "He doesn't dignify school-yard taunts with a response!"

Jason looked down, guilty.

"So yeah, CONGRATULATIONS!"

"Heather..." He whispered.

"You've redefined your legacy..." She averted her eyes out the window, and then snapped her head back to him. "Congratulations!"

"It was an act of political sacrifice!" He snapped, looking up.

"Sacrifice?" She questioned, her eyes burning into him. "I languished in a loveless marriage in London."

"I lived only to read your letters."

"I look at you and think, 'God, what have we done with our lives and what did it get us?'" She informed, her eyes glazing with glistening tears. "That doesn't wipe the tears or the years away,"

"But I'm back in the city and I'm here to stay," She frowned. "And you know what I'm here to do?"

"Heather..." He tried to grab her hand, but she pulled away.

"I'm not here for you." She growled. "I know my sister like I know my own mind."

She walked toward him, sending him to walk back. "You will never find anyone as trusting or as kind," She pointed her finger at his face. "A million years ago she said to me, 'This one's mine'."

"So I stood by," She pushed him down to the ground. "Do you know why?"

"I love my sister more than anything in this life!" She took a small step forward. "I will choose her happiness over mine every time!"

"Veronica.."

"Veronica..." Jason breathed, tears flowing down his face.

"Is the best thing in our lives!" She looked down at him. "So never lose sight of the fact that you have been blessed with the best wife!"

"Congratulations!" Her eyes burned into his.

"For the rest of your life," Raising a hand, she slowly bent down.

"Every sacrifice you make is for my sister," Close distance to his face.

"Give her the best life..." She prepared herself.

"Congratulations!" Slapping him hard across the face, she stomped out of the room.

"Congratulations, Jason."
