I could tell that the baby was due any day now and I was full of nervousness and excitement. Today is the day of our wedding, and I couldn't be happier. "Everything is perfect" I hummed to myself as I looked at myself in the mirror. I was wearing my mother's wedding dress, which has been passed down through the generations, yet somehow always kept in pristine condition. "It's time" my mother said as she walked into the room. I nodded before following her to where the wedding was taking place. "He is a lucky man. I'm sure he'll make a great husband" my mother stated as she looked at Corvus from the end of the aisle. "And he better be a good father, too" she whispered as she gently placed her hand on my stomach. My eyes widened and my jaw dropped at what she had said. "You knew?! Does dad know, too?!" I whisper-yelled, panicking slightly. "I knew as soon as you did. I could smell the difference on the both of you. And no, he's too dense to notice" she answered with a soft smile. "Now go get your man" she teased as she nudged me towards the aisle. Everyone stood and stared at me as I walked down the aisle, but all I could think about was Corvus and how he was smiling at me.
We said the traditional vows and then shared a passionate kiss. My father shook Corvus' hand. "Take care of my little girl, Corvus" my father said with a firm nod. "I will, your majesty" Corvus replied seriously as he returned the handshake and nodded. Everyone who came to the wedding then went into the main ballroom to have the reception. Corvus and I stood side-by-side as we were about to cut the cake, but as soon as I picked up the knife, there was a horrible pain that shot through my stomach, which made me fall to the ground. "Catalus!" Corvus shouted my name in a panic as he caught me. "C- Corvus, I think it's t- time" I whimpered as he helped me stand. "Hold on, my love!" he said as he picked me up and ran towards the hospital. I was crying and groaning in pain as I clung to Corvus. We got to the hospital very quickly. "Help! This is an emergency! My wife is having a baby!" he shouted as he burst through the front door. "Oh, Lucifer! Hurry, we must get her to the maternity ward immediately!" a nurse called out as she rushed towards us with a wheelchair. "Just breathe, sweetheart, you and the baby are going to be fine" Corvus tried to calm me down. "You did this to me! I'm going to- gah!" I was in the middle of threatening the crow demon who was pushing me down the halls of the hospital, when a contraction stopped me. They got me into a room as fast as possible and the nurse called in several others to help her deliver the baby.
Several hours passed and I was in agonizing pain. "Just get this thing out of me!" I cried desperately. I was practically crushing Corvus' hand, but he didn't seem to care. "Remember to breathe, love" he cooed. "You fucking breathe, you godforsaken bastard!" I hissed. He seemed shocked by what I had said, but he quickly shook it off. He gently ran his fingers through my hair in attempt to comfort me. It worked for a few seconds before another contraction came. "You're almost completely dilated! Just push!" one of the nurses encouraged me. "Fuck you! You fucking push!" I shouted as I did as I was told. "I can see its head! Not long now, just keep pushing!" the nurse told me. I was screaming in pain as I pushed.
CORVUS' POV:
I watched Catalus pushing as hard as she could while she was literally breaking my hand. "I can see its head! Not long now, just keep pushing!" the nurse said. Just then, I felt my contact symbol tingle. 'No, not now! This is more important than a damned contract!' I thought, starting to panic. A cloud of black smoke began to surround me. "No! You can't go, Corvus! The baby will die without you!" Catalus exclaimed. "I refuse to go!" I declared as I clung to my wife. Catalus cried out in pain one last time before the cries of a baby sounded. "It's a girl" the nurse said fondly as she handed the baby to Catalus. She looked just like her mother, except she had my eyes. "She's perfect. I love you so much, Corvus" Catalus hummed affectionately as she turned to face me. "I love you too" I replied. Just as I was about to hold our baby's little hand for the first time, I was teleported away. "No! No! No! Catalus!" I shouted as her and our child disappeared from my view. "No...I couldn't reach her in time...without my touch...the baby will die" I cried my heart out.
CATALUS' POV:
Our precious baby girl was placed in my arms. "She's perfect. I love you so much, Corvus" I said to my husband lovingly. "I love you too" he replied with the same affection. Corvus reached out to touch her, but before he could make contact, he was teleported away in a cloud of black smoke. "Corvus! No!" I exclaimed as I reached out to him. "No! No! No! Catalus!" he called out as he disappeared. "No! No! He didn't get to touch her! She's going to-!" I could sense the life draining from our baby as I held it in my arms. "NO!" I cried desperately as I held her close to me. "H- he left...to make a contract...th- that...that bastard! I'll never forgive him!" I cried angrily into the body of my lifeless child.
~PRESENT DAY~
It's been centuries, but I've still never forgiven that bastard for leaving me and our child just for a contract. He never returned to Hell, leaving me to wallow in hatred for years on end.
"I've held that grudge ever since you left us...me and our child" I growled angrily as I recalled the past. "I haven't even thought of that day in years...but I apologize for having to leave you. I had no choice, for my master called upon me, so I was forced to leave" the ruby-eyed demon explained in a regretful tone. "That may be true, but I'll still never forgive you" I declared sternly before turning away from him.
