(Authors Note: This is an AU, which means that the band doesn't exist and Calum and Luke don't know each other and stuff. Calum, Ashton, Michael, and Luke all go to the same school, but they don't all know one other. So yeah, I hope you're not confused because I put it in a kind of confusing wording so I'm sorry :3 enjoy!)

- Luke's POV-

My name is Luke Hemmings. I go to McKinley High, and I'm a junior. I am 17 years old. I'm really bad at bios or whatever, but I basically only care about school. My best friend's name is Sam, and she is the more reckless one in our friendship. I like to come home from school and study or do my homework, and she likes to copy off my homework and do something fun instead. She's really fun though, and we have been friends since the 3rd grade. Sam and I are a perfect example of a boy-girl friendship without ever being attracted to one another. Yes, it can work.

Anyways, enough about me, onto the story.

"Luke, Luke, Luke, Luke . . . are you there?" Sam repeated while I stared off into space. I looked at her and blinked.

"Sorry, just thinking." I answered.

"The bell's about to ring, you should probably head to class." Sam snickered.

"You should too," I said.

"I'm cutting, to go hang out with my boyfriend. Don't worry, I'll be back by lunch. Unless you wanna come with?" Sam explained. I laughed.

"Yeah right, you're funny. See you later then," I replied, turning away. She grabbed my wrist and pulled me back.

"Come on Luke, it will be fun. Don't be such a puss, it's just social studies." Sam talked me into it. I sighed and looked at her.

"Fine, but just this once. If I get caught, I'm blaming you." I answered.

"Yay!" Sam exclaimed, dragging me out of the building. No one was even looking.

We walked to the court yard and waited for Sam's boyfriend. Now that I think of it, I had never met Sam's boyfriend. I guess now was a good time to do so. I had no clue where we were going, and my nerves started to take control. I had never done this before, and it was actually kind of . . . exciting. Sam did this all the time without feeling bad about it, so why should I feel bad? Like Sam said, it's just social studies. I doubt I'm missing out on anything.

Soon enough, Sam's boyfriend showed up. He walked out of the same doors that we did, and I wondered why he didn't just come with us when we left the building. I thought I might ask Sam, but I guess it's not a big deal. I was way too focused on Sam's boyfriend's hair. It was the craziest thing I had ever seen. It was dark red and spiked up a little. Also, Sam's boyfriend wasn't alone. He was with someone else. This Someone Else had black hair in sort of a quiff. They were both very tall. Just then, I had suddenly recognized them. They were Michael and Calum, from the burnout clique or whatever you want to call it. I gave Sam a wary look, almost asking her, "You hang out with them?" Sam just tapped my arm and told me to be cool.

I didn't know which one was Sam's boyfriend at first, but once they had caught up to us it turns out that Michael was her boyfriend, and she seemed to really like him. I had never seen her act anything like that before with any of her old boyfriends. She hugged Michael and kissed his cheek. Then she introduced us.

"Michael, this is Luke, I told you guys about him before. Luke, this is Michael. Calum, Luke, Luke, Calum." Sam said. Michael ruffled my hair, which annoyed me a little. It felt like he was teasing me, because I'm way shorter than the both of them.

"Great to finally meet you," Michael said. I smiled.

Calum looked at me long and hard before saying anything, then he finally spoke.

"You hang out with this dork?"

"He's not a dork okay, he's actually cool." Sam stuck up for me. Calum rolled his eyes.

"Whatever. We have to pick up Ashton from his house, he stayed home today." Calum answered.

"We'd better go now, before we get caught." Sam directed. Michael nodded and began to walk towards the parking lot. We got into Michaels car which was really cramped. Michael drove and Sam sat in the passenger seat, which left me and Calum in the back. It was awkward actually, because I had just met him today and he called me a dork.

"So Luke, Sam talks about you a lot but you seem kinda boring to me." Calum said. I pushed my glasses up awkwardly and looked at him. I faked a smile.

"I'd like to show you that I'm not," I answered. He just rolled his eyes. He was good at it.

"Calum gives everyone a hard time," Michael said. "Don't sweat it."

"That's not true," Calum responded.

"It is," Sam chimed in.

"Hey, it's fine, I can take it." I sassed. Calum just looked at me for a moment, then stared out the window.

"So how did you guys meet?" I asked Michael.

"Who, me and Sam, or me and Calum?" He answered.

"You and Sam,"

"We met at the record store. We were both looking for the same album," Sam answered. I didn't really think that was the sweetest way to meet someone, but she said it with pride.

"That's . . . romantic," I said sarcastically. Sam and Michael laughed.

We arrived at the house that I was guessing was Ashton's. I had never met any of these people before, besides Sam, so this was all new to me. Sure enough, a tall boy with blond curly hair stepped out the house and into the car. 3 people in the back seat was a lot, and I got stuck in the middle. I was pressed up against two boys I had just met today. I had kind of wished that I was in class.

"Who's this?" Ashton asked.

"That's Luke, Luke that's Ashton." Sam introduced. I flashed Ashton a smile, and he did the same.

"I've heard a lot about you, Mr. Hemmings." Ashton said. I laughed a little.

"Good things I hope," I responded. Calum sighed loudly. I decided I'd annoy Calum a little, since I had nothing to lose. I leaned over and whispered in his ear.

"Do you have a problem with me?"

Calum looked at me, almost a death glare.

"Yes," He answered. I shrugged and rested my head on his shoulder. I was waiting for him to explode.

"Get off m-" He started, but I cut him off.

"Deal with it, or get out," I said. He sighed.

-Calum's POV-

Luke is so cute. I hate him.
