I woke up with dried tears on my face and Nanna right next to me.

"You doing okay sweetie?" she asked.

I sat up and ran my fingers through my greasy hair. "Nanna... It's just not fair..."

She extended her arms and wrapped them around me.

"Sweetie, I know you wanted to go... I know that you've been dreaming of it ever since you were a little girl. But sometimes dreams are put on hold. You will have your chance... I know you will. You'll find a way. Now, Andrew almost wasn't going to go. He knew that it would upset you. But not many people volunteer for this kinda thing and he was friends with that boy that's been missing. Please understand... Imagine if Jason, or Marcy, or Fox disappearing and that you knew that if you went, it would upset your brother. You would have done the same thing he did." She frowned and continued. "I must say Jess, I'm a bit disappointed in you. He loves you and it killed him on the inside leaving last night. After you screamed at him, he left this house in tears... He loves you sweetie. But he has to do what he has to do."

I looked at her with tears in my eyes and my necklace turned a light blue. I couldn't believe what I had done... I told Andrew that I hoped he'd never make it back... What came over me? Why did I say that? I didn't mean it... I was just angry. I hoped Andrew knew that.

"Nanna what have I done?!" I cried. "I didn't mean it! I love him. What have I done?!" I buried my face in her shoulder and began to cry.

She patted my back. "They are coming back soon I would imagine. So go wash up and put some fresh clothes on. When your finished go to the edge of the wall on the East side. That's where they will come back from. Oh, and take Jason with you. He is eating everything he can get his hands on."

I rushed to the bathroom and took a shower. As I let my hair dry I put on a pair of dark blue jeans and a flowy white shirt. I looked over on the dresser to see the good luck anklet that Fox had stolen for me. I put it around my ankle, slipped on my sneakers, grabbed my backpack, and headed into the living room.

"Jason, get off your butt. We're going." Jason jumped off the couch and went over to the door.

I opened it, and we headed outside.

"Should Marcy and Fox come too?" Jason asked.

"Uh.. Do you think we have time?"

"Of course! They aren't supposed to be back until like twenty minutes," he assured.

We headed over to Fox's house and he was sitting out front with Marcy.

"Perfect! Guys me and Jason are going to go meet Andrew on the East side. Wanna come?" I asked.

"Sure!" Fox said as he stood up and walked over to us. Marcy followed.

We all started making our way to the East side of the Forest Sector.

"So he actually went? He actually went on the search last night?" Marcy asked.

Jason nodded.

"And when he was leaving I told him that I hoped he'd never make it back..." I whispered. "I can't believe how stupid I was. I didn't mean it..."

Marcy put her arm around me. "I know that Jason knew you didn't mean it. He's the most understanding guy I've ever met! Don't worry about it. Once you see him, just say you never meant it. He'll understand for sure!"

I smiled at her.

Fox was leading us and I'm not so sure he knew where he was going.

"Fox where are you going?" Jason asked.

"To the East side! Pff, where do ya think I'm going!?"

"In circles..." Marcy mumbled.

"Bro, you do realize that we are going West right now, don't you?" Jason smirked.

Fox stopped walking and looked up at the sun and then down at his watch. "Oh...." he murmured.

"Fox! We're gonna be late!" I yelled.

Fox turned towards the other direction and said, "Okay, now that I know for sure I'm going in the right direction, we'll be there in no time!"

I just rolled my eyes.

What Fox thought was going to be no time, turned out to be twenty minutes. There were crowds of people littering the street. I squeezed by an managed to get to the very front.

"They haven't come out already have they?" I asked the lady next to me.

"Oh, no dear. They are coming right now."

I saw the large metal gates that in closed us into the sector slowly open. They opened it just so two or three people could  come back in at a time. It was way too dangerous to actually let the gates open all the way. Some mutants or Savages could run in. About twenty dirty men came through and then the gates closed. Family members rushed into the streets to greet their loved ones. I ran into the giant swarm of people and looked for a familiar face. Jason, Fox, and Marcy joined me.

"Andrew!" I called out. I looked around and saw all of the volunteers with their families.

"Andrew!" Jason called.

We were all desperately looking all over for him. My necklace turned a dark blue.

"He's not here... He's not here...." I mumbled with tears streaming down my face.

"Jess. Calm down... We- we'll find him," Fox said.

"I can't believe it... I told him I hoped he'd never make it back and now he's not here and it's all my fault and he's probably dead out there!" I babbled.

Jason grabbed my shoulders and looked into my eyes. "Jess. Breath... We'll find him."

"Look!" Marcy yelled as she pointed into the crowd. I looked to where she was pointing and I saw the back of a familiar tall guy with brown hair.

"Jason!" I screamed. I ran over to him and hugged him from the back.

"Jason! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean what I said! I'm sorry!" I cried.

He pulled away from me and turned around.

"Jess?" he asked.

I looked up to see his face.

"Jim?!" It was Andrew's best friend. They look almost exact from behind. "Oh, sorry.. I thought you were Andrew," I said as I pushed my hair back. "You volunteered too?"

"Um ya. Andrew got me into it."

"Where is he?" I asked.

"Jess... I'm sorry but he didn't make it back."
