Tom stood with his feet apart and his hands together, struggling to talk without stuttering.

Donovan stood in front of him, leaned against a clear glass table. His suit fit him so well it seemed the fabric was a part of him, and his crossed arms and relaxed position only increased his level of attractiveness.

"You let her get away," said Don dangerously quietly. "Alive."

Tom swallowed and nodded. He knew his boss well enough to know not to fall for this calm act. "I told you, these two guys attacked me."

"Right, of course, sorry. Only I happen to have some CCTV footage here of the so called attack." Donovan cocked his head and smirked slightly. "Shall we have a look?"

Without waiting for a reply he picked up a dark remote from the table behind him, and after pressing a few buttons a large screen lowered itself in front of the see through wall facing Tom. The overlooking view of the city was hidden by a massive picture of Tom in a grey corridor. Donovan pressed play.

The Tom on the screen silently held a phone up to his face and appeared to yell down it. He paced nervously in and out of a room, before finally disappearing inside. His head peeked out a minute later and he looked almost worried.

The next time he was seen he stood in a battle stance in the corridor. Two young men, teenagers ran up to him. He tried to stop the blond one getting inside the room, an attempt that was easily blocked. Next a boy with bright orange hair swiftly landed a punch on his face, then his stomach. A good kick between the legs brought him right down.

When Tom was just about to get up again something small shot into his neck. The real Tom winced and rubbed the spot the sedative dart had hit him.

The two boys were then seen carrying a girl out of the room. The gjnger one walked with a slight limp. They were soon out of sight.

Don pressed some buttons and the screen disappeared again. He turned to face his worker and took a step towards him.

His fist came in contact with Tom's nose, sending his head back further than it seemed possible. Tom groaned audibly and held his nose, his fingers quickly reddening with blood.

Donovan stared down at him. It wasn't a glare, but there was danger lurking in those eyes, that was clear to see. "They were children, Tom. Two little boys defeated you. Do you think I'm happy about that?"

Tom rapidly shook his head, though it hurt like hell to do so. Don mimicked his movements, before suddenly and harshly dragging his arms across the desk behind him, sending books, papers, everything flying to the floor.

"Do you know what it means now she's gone?" he asked loudly. His chest was heaving, he sounded rough and exhausted like he had had to explain this many times before. Only the anger was crystal clear in every syllable, edging its way out in each word, waiting to strike out.

"It means she could tell people what we're doing here!!" Donovan answered his own question in the same voice. His hands gripped at the table edge while he tried to clear his thoughts.

"Leave now," he ordered Tom, bringing a hand up to his temples. Tom scurried out of the room, trying to stop blood dripping on the floor on his way. Donovan sighed a long sigh, which turned into a groan, which turned into a yell.

He had already set his best men the task of finding the two boys that took the girl, though he doubted they'd find her. He had to find her though, if he didn't his entire plan would be ruined. He couldn't fail at this, he just couldn't.

No, he would find the girl. She couldn't be too far, Tom's drink combined with fear would have left her weak and groggy, and two teenage boys could hardly carry her around far without it looking suspicious.

Donovan's team would find her, and he himself would pin her down and kill her. That way he could ensure it was done right. Perhaps he should punish Tom more severely for even telling her what was happening in the first place. But as long as she was caught on time everything could be back to normal.

More murder and experimentation as planned. Donovan smiled deeply. Soon.
