I stood still bathing in the applause trying to steady my breathing. The crowd was whistling and shouting, all good signs. I glanced down at my small bucket on stage, taking note of how many tips were in it. I smiled leaning into the microphone to speak. "Thank you all so much for you support, if you want to see more of my songs you can check out my youtube channel: The Black Pearl Music, thank you again for a wonderful night!" the crowd applauded once more as i stepped off stage. I sighed taking a moment to be grateful for the chances i was given. The opportunities that had gotten me to this point.
I grabbed my stay water bottle taking a swig thinking of new songs to write. New melodies and sheet music that would soon be heard. I was excited. Excited that i got to live a beautiful life like this.
"Now what am I going to sing next," i questioned out loud gathering the small bucket full of cash. I pondered the question a bit more, trying to think of something, when a voice behind me spoke.
"You should sing something hopeful," they said in a smooth voice. It wasn't the first time someone from the audience had requested me to sign something, but this was different. They weren't asking me to cover a song, they were asking me to write something. A rare request, that i usually took, because it meant a lot to me. It meant that someone liked how i wrote songs.
I turned to face the stranger, setting my down my bruket, and water. "Why something hopeful," i questioned, interested in their response.
"When you were up there, I could hear something in your voice," they said looking down. "Something sad," they said putting their hands together. "I want you to write something hopeful for the people that need it," they murmured looking up again, smiling. "Maybe you one of those people to," as they finished their statement they turned walking out of the restaurant.
I smiled. They had noticed something i hadn't expected anyone to notice: my sadness. I chuckled and grabbed my things already thinking of major chords to sing to. I was going to write them a song. They deserved it. "I hope you like the outcome," i whispered exiting the restaurant instrument, and bucket in hand.
